Muted sidechain

anyone got a tip for running a mute sidechain channel? usually I'd just duplicate the kick and then mute it in my DAW, so even when the kick disappears, the sidechain is still coming on over. But in the MPC, if you mute it it doesn't actually send the signal. I've been sending it to an out that I wasn't monitoring but I'm in a situation now where I need all my available outs. Ideas?

Try converting the track to an audio track. Then try muting the kick to see if the side chain effect is still there.
