Hi Everyone,
I'm new to the MPC world but I'm definitely not new to recording.
My first recording experiences were on a boombox recording FM Radio shows on to cassette tape.
Then using a TEAC tape deck in the family living room where I was able to control recording levels.
In those days the rules was avoid clipping. (Then there was the whole Metal and Normal Bias cassettes)
However, I would still record really loud with some clipping and it still sounded great to me, Didn't understand the rule.
I recorded a lot of tapes and saved them for years. The ones with clipping sounded worse and worse over time. The ones I recorded without clipping still sounded decent.
I read the MPC Live guide and in the Looper chapter is says "Make sure it does not exceed the maximum level (the meter should not be “peaking” constantly".
Does this mean some peaking (clipping) is acceptable? What do they mean by constantly here?
How do you guys go about keeping nice, clean and loud recording levels?
