mpc 2000xl with usb....anybody know if this will happen? does it look like it will or will my dreams be chopped up much like we do to hot samples???????????

The MPC2000XL has been around for a while! There are new kids on the block. Just a question of whether we can afford to keep up! I wish I could!

This was been posted in the forum before. It's been said that it will not work. I thought of trying to use this:

Hook it up to the IDE port on the inside of the MPC and run the usb end out the back of it. The only downside is your floppy or Zip won't be hooked up since you'd be using the IDE port. You wouldn't need the power supply though.

I got a 250 built in already and the card readers are crap (See MPC1000). I just to try something different.

maybe what i'm looking for is just to be able to hook up a card reader or something. anything without having to get another mpc...2000xl, 4000, or 1000. maybe what i'll do is get a scsi hard drive off ebay so i can at least have access to the "gigabyte" world.

i think i'm just frustrated too. i feel like it's always give and take with the mpc's. to gain one feature...you must sacrifice and do without another (usb, card reader, effects, scsi, etc). i love the 2000xl. i just wish it had some of the features that some of the others mpc's do. i want my cake and to eat it too.

if the 1000 didn't sacrifice some of the features on the 2000xl while keeping it's own features....I WOULD DEFINITELY GO FOR THAT!

I have use the USBXChange with the XL a few times. I have internal SCSI reader and hard drive so it works JUST LIKE the MPC1000. That is, I plug the usb cable to computer and drop files all day. Disconnect when done.

It is operational not any different than having a SCSI equipped PC <-> Zip <-> MPC that everyone used to do anyway. Seems that this ATAPI zip thing is actually a hindrance to direct connections.
