Dang. Thanks for checking. I had a few other friends check their Live / Touch / X and they didn't have issues either. Replacement is on the way.... Onto MPC #7.

As the LEDs age that tends to be what happens. Heat tends to age them quicker... which is why the display dimming is important to keep them lasting as long as possible.

This is the 7th MPC Live that you’ve had?

This next replacement will be the 7th, yeah. Getting into the details would take forever to type, but they all had legitimate issues that neither myself or Akai Support could fix - all hardware QC issues. Pretty frustrating.

Wtf.... I received one of the first batch sent out in April of 2017 never had any issues besides some crashing when figuring out the new os.
The crashing was my fault, man I feel for ya. Talk about bad luck.

Thanks man, Appreciate it. My friend says I’m haunted by the ghost of Dilla lol.
Hardware stuff aside, the only issue I run into is the unit freezing for around 45 seconds when in standalone. It only happens once when I open a project for the first time and hit the top right memory icon to purge unused samples, but usually no more after that. I’m used to it at this point though.
Outside of all that, I just really like working with the Live in standalone. I wish I bought it from the get go instead of the X, but oh well. The workflow can be archaic, but I get shit done quicker on it and have learned to appreciate some of the quirks.

LED’s “aging” or the heat generated by a screen set at full brightness does not cause backlight bleed. A displays backlight bleed is caused by poorly manufactured edge/back lit displays and poor functioning LED’s usually an issue in manufacturing.
