MPC2000 Classic Sampling Issue *Potential Hardware Defect*

When I sample in from iTunes directly from my laptop using an auxiliary cord an 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch adapter on either the left or the right the audio does not seem dampened or cut out or filtered or phased out. However when sampling from a record player through the same laptop out the same connection and cord I find the sound to be just as I just described. If I sample directly in from my turntable into the MPC will this correct the audio dampening or should I start looking for a new M put an output board? Also could I potentially solder in a new quarter inch connection on the board itself instead of having to buy a whole new board?

I'm very new to the MPC 2000 however I'm quickly learning it and quickly also learning that because I bought it second-hand I'm going to be cracking this thing open it at some point anyway to replace the pad sensors so I figured if I can solder on a new connection and be done with it from there it would save me about $100 that I could put toward the effects for which I really want

Laptop internal soundcards often are low quality and you probably want an external soundcard for better quality. You can use headphones on the Laptop to check ot how it sound.

Oh, I just reread your post and I think I misunderstood.
To be honest I still don't get it
So in general it work like this:

Laptop internal soundcard output -> MPC input (With the cable I posted above)

Depending on the turntable it might be different cause if your turntable doesn't have a line-output you need a phonopreamp. so the question is what model of turntable do you have?


BTW: Chill. I don't think that there is a hardware defect

The MPC2000 I have *IS* in need of some TLC and minor repairs but Ive already got this cable as a potential fix for when I get paid next week. Much obliged from an MPC Newb. Hopefully the cable sorts it out

Also the turntable I'm currently using is one by ION. Not sure what the exact model is but I believe it's a best buy brand. As soon as I have the cash though, I'll be using a Numark TT1700. It just needs a new cartridge atm but once it does it'll be my main one for sampling

the turntable matters.
but the real issue is that turntables dont usually put out the same signal as like a computer does. a turntable puts out a phono signal and most other modern hi-fi equipment puts out a line signal.

the turntable needs a phono preamp built into it, or you need to use a preamp. most people use a dj mixer as a preamp. if the turntable has a switch from phono to line, set it to line.
