MACOS 10.15 CATALINA AND IOS 13 SUPPORT FOR AKAI PRO

Because I know everyone doesn’t get the inmusic emails


Apple iOS13 was released on September 19th and macOS 10.15 Catalina is in its final stages preparing for release. Akai Pro has been actively testing all current hardware and software with each beta release to guarantee our users know exactly what works before they make the jump to the new operating system.

It is important to us that our users can continue to enjoy their Akai Pro hardware and software without any downtime. We encourage all of our users to remain on their current OS and iOS until a full statement announcing software compatibility is made. This page will be updated to reflect product compatibility following the release of macOS Catalina.

Until then, we recommend all users consider turning off automatic updates on to prevent updating accidentally:

Navigate to System Preferences > App Store
Uncheck the box labeled Automatically check for updates.

This is ridiculous Akai. The developer version of Catalina was released in June. The public version over a month ago. And instead of being prepared you tell your users not to upgrade cuz it won't work?!?
The project manager and the manager of VIP software should both be fired.
You have broken my workflow, have nothing but excuses, put the responsibility of your product on your customers, and have disrupted probably thousands of users who didn't see you preemptory proclamation ti NOT upgrade...
I, for one, once I get my workflow worked out, will never buy Akai again...

Akai is slow, 2.7 is still in beta. It sucks that they are radio silent right now.

Akai est lent, la version 2.7 est toujours en version bêta. Il est nul qu'ils soient silencieux à la radio maintenant.

Almost EVERY plugin / virtual instrument I own sent me a similar email. This is not an Akai thing.

If you feel gutsy you CAN install the drivers into 10.15 manually and LIVE and MPC X will work perfectly fine.

You need to show the package contends then extract the "kext" files and put them into the proper directories. I am working without issues now.

It's sad people are not understanding the nature of Apple. Apple is always upgrading, to quickly, that's why l went PC. We're going to sit on Win 10 for quite some time.
People need to stop upgrading as soon as Apple makes a new upgrade.

NI, as just one example I'm considering switching to, says EVERY product, hardware and software, is compliant with MacOS Catalina. There's no excuse for any project to be later than the launch date, or maybe 30 days after, except negligence and or apathy... or poor project management... I've used Akai for years and they have always been incredibly slow... Someone else posted, and this is my problem, I just bought a new Mac... didn't think to turn off auto update, and CANNOT downgrade... Legitimate problem and one Akai should care about. They apparently don't.

Unfortunately, this is an End User problem. Don't update or forget to disable auto update. As stated before, this is not just Akai Pro. It's ever piece of software that runs on MAC OS. I remember, Logic which is owned by Apple, had the same issue.

I just copped a 16" MacBook Pro which shipped with Catalina, so yeah, it's definitely an end-user problem since I can't run the MPC software on my laptop. Akai has had access to the Catalina beta since June 2019 (5+ months). Maybe they'll do us a solid and update before Xmas?

After years of updates from Apple everyone knows the deal. Most old school producers always have a system that is not updated. I have 2 laptop environments one of which I never f*** with. Why? Cause it has no issues and always works.

Also, before you got a new Mac you could have easily checked if Catalina was supported. Anyway 2.7 will in all likelihood address this.
