Please suggest routing option for preferred workflow.

Hi Folks.
Got a workflow in mind, not sure if it can be done the "easy" way. Can somebody please help?
This is what I want. I have my tune bed laid out in DAW (Cakewalk). I want to use MPC live to record elements/samples on the top of existing arrangement in real-time scenario. Meaning, play arrangement in Cakewalk and trigger pads (samples) as I see fit and record that audio (not midi) directly to Cakewalk track. Is this possible via direct connection MPC Live->Cakewalk or it has to be done through some sort of VST?

The dumbed down version of workflow I am after would be to use a separate audio interface and just wire MPC outputs to inputs of interface, but it would most likely introduce some latency and A/D conversion.

I know of several other "work arounds" such as exporting stems, using full version of MPC software, mixing down importing/exporting stuff... But I want to keep it simple and do not leave Cakewalk. Is this workflow possible without separate interface?

P.S. The last time I played with Akai sampler was couple of decades ago and that was not even my toy, so kindly be patient. I am complete noob in MPC world.

Have you tried using the MPC as your interface? Use the USB cable to your computer, MPC as main interface. Now, your new MPC tracks would use something like output 3/4, and get dropped back in as audio tracks in cakewalk. Re-amp it.

Or, use MPC as a plug-in to cakewalk, and record those tracks there. I haven't tried that in ages, cause my main flow is stand-alone.

thanks for suggestion. I got it to work through the MPC plugin. Unfortunately driver is very unstable and crashed Cakewalk 3 times in 1 hour session. Kind of sucks as this was a preferred workflow and main reason I got it. I wanted to use it as an audio interface and use onboard features. The idea is excellent, implementation needs some serious stability improvement. At this point not sure what to do wait for more stable version or sell it...

Yeah, I haven't used the plugin much, cause I prefer working straight in the MPC a whole lot more. Computres just slow things down.

What OS are you using? Catalina is still not supported in MAC>

I am on PC. I bought the thing to be used as a hybrid. A standalone and audio interface/pad triggers for Cakewalk. Strange that with 2.6 they did not make the plugin/driver stable enough.
