Support and discussion for all of Akai’s modern standalone MPCs including the MPC X / X SE, MPC Live 1, 2 & 3, MPC One / One+, MPC Key 37/61.

I LOVE both my Live and X!
I believe they're not happy because of the advances in Software. I'll Admit...I grew up on MPCs. But when I started makin beats on the Computer, My Legacy MPCs began collecting dust. I would have my MPC 5000 on the Front end Triggering Drum Notes. That's It....lol

So when I seen Akai Promoting the New MPCs as being really Standalone...I Jumped on it. That was the ORIGINAL sales pitch for the Live/X.
Akai capitalizing on the Live's Performance Potential is where it went astray.

The Advancement of the Live/X was Leap years over the old MPCs. But....were kinda lacking compared to Software abilities.

So the People complaining now, more than likely are coming straight from Software. I would Be kinda mad too. It would be Absolutely Impossible to incorporate Everything Software has to offer, and put it in a Standalone Unit. Open Labs was the Closest to makin that happen. And you see how that ended lol

It comes with Intro. It is limited, but not a demo.
Live demo runs for 30 days fully functional, but after that you cannot save and export.
You will always be able to save and export with Intro.

Isn't it great that it comes with Push?
I mean, if Push came with nothing, some would be complaining about that.
And if it always came with the free Suite version, that wouldn't necessarily be a great move because
A) some Suite owners will be buying Push, and if they had to pay extra, they'd complain and
B) some will want to upgrade to a bigger version later on; not everybody wants the full package at first.

Ableton Live rules. Such a dope DAW.
Paid to get certified in 2016, and haven't been regretting that at all...opened many doors.

That's an eye opening perspective for me. I'm from the MPC-60/SP-1200/ASR-10 era so for me my MPC is 100% pure dopeness. I guess for a software head it would be a different experience. I use my DAW as an extension of my Otari MX-5050 tape machine so I'm not heavily reliant on the DAW for music creation, I make my music with the MPC and it does everything I need it to do...

There is a lot of accuracy in your post.
*I wrote too much*
I don't think us software guys are "mad", just some of us are disappointed. I'm fine, my two biggest gripes are fixed (sorta) - Ableton Export and internal synth. But as a tool its not strong enough to outpace software at ANYTHING, so to enjoy it, it has to be the workflow. For me, the workflow was solid, but some of the details need refinements or improvements that a new iteration would require. So I'm looking at updates less in terms of getting BACK to using my Live, and more to see what the plan is moving forward.

For me to buy a new MPC or a new Force is going to require something that either short-circuits the need for a computer without jumping through dumb number of hoops, or establishes a ridiculous volume of beat making content...so I'm hoping to see that.

What are the main things that make Ableton so dope in your mind?

I'm intrigued about being able to use it in link mode as a better version of MPC software... (Using VST's,PDC etc.)

That’s what I’m saying. There’s so much to expand on with these new mpcs that we are not aware of. I’ll have to check how the live reacts in the same manner but I think I need to mess with my sound card to get it in class complaint mode. If that’s even the same he’s doing.

Is your sound card internal or desktop audio interface? What he's doing is putting the MPC in standalone and connected his Audio Interface directly to the MPC via USB. Then he can use the interface as the front end to the MPC. Which bypass the MPC pres and analog input.

Rack mount ufx 2. It works like a charm in cc mode for my iPad and iPhone.

What about on the back end? Was he just getting the main outs running to it or were all the outputs selectable?

Man... if I can use that to expand the live that would be nuts. 4 more stereo outs and 6 more stereo ins....

Still finishing up on a job but I need to look into this my mind is exploding with ideas just with the soundcard and the live standalone.

That would be nice to see what audio functions work with the UFX 2. Keep us updated on what works.

F**k those little pads. And the takt switches are garbage.

BUT JJOS is a more focused piece of work.

I’m going to need to work at this some transferring back and forth between the computer trying to figure this out.

right now they both recognize each other, when I press play midi starts incoming from the UFX both in and out. UFX has the host and cc lights on, and when I disconnect the usb the UFX restarts. So they are making some connection.

I can get nothing but inaudible jitter on the 8 analog tracks, in cc mode I don’t believe I can access the software tracks but I really need to mess with the settings because I just flipped it into cc mode and I am not sure what was going on the last time I used it.

I am not getting the extra options for out put and inputs. I can work at it some but I am not hopeful that I can use this like quickstrike has.

Is what he is using different than class complaint mode? Sorry guys I’m not as versed in the different daw and computer lingo. Just turn it on to mix in ableton. That may change some now tho.

Whaaa? You get like an 8 track limit w/ the Lite. That’s a demo as far as I’m concerned.

A lot of things.
Session View for jamming / sketchpad type workflow, ease of chopping (although I have some gripes re: chopping to Sampler instead of Simpler with Push 2), Drum Rack, ability to convert audio into drums/melody/chords, the ease of saving Clips for sound design, chord mode with Push 2, Push 2 step sequencing…and more.
