Were you trying to pass audio out of the MPC or just trying to use the interface to record into the MPC? Because the way Quickstrike did it, the audio is passing in and out of the interface, using the USB port.

Like we’re you able to access more inputs or outputs, limited to stereo out, etc?
Not working for me, but some more concise info would be greatly appreciated.
All I gathered from my experience is that that midi over usb is already there just not in a functional form for my soundcard.

Does your audio interface, need USB drivers in order to work on your desktop? If, that may be the issue.

So I can confirm my Zoom L-12 also works. It has a class compliant switch on the back. I was able to route inputs 1 - 4 to MPC audio tracks 1 - 4 and record... Very cool. Only issue is the Live only sees 4 inputs and not all 8... Bummer. MPC also streams all audio to either of the L-12 USB returns another win.

OK so for all those following along at home.

Make sure your interface is class compliant or core audio. Most are these days. Connect to either of the MPC USB inputs.

Power the interface on first then turn on the MPC

Audio streams to and from over USB.

The only time I'd ever really need this is if I want to track instruments directly to my MPC which is rare.

Sick! Too bad indeed it doesn't recognize all channels from the zoom l 12. I have one too and i use a headphone output and assign only my external synths to that output to go to my mpc and record audiotracks per external track i have (up to 8 audiotracks of course, which is more than enough for me).

Quickstrike, said it does not recognize his ADAT out. Does anyone have an interface that with 8 analog outputs? If so, does the MPC see all eight outputs? Also can you route them all, like on the back of the MPC X?

Note: If you have an interface with more than eight outputs. Can the MPC see all of them.

Yes, my sound card needs drivers for the computer. But it has a class complaint mode it goes into when attaches to most other devices.
It goes into the class complaint mode when connected to the live but it stays the host. There’s no way to turn off host mode from what I have seen, although I have only spent alittle bit messing with it.

What do you mean by host mode? Also when connected to MPC LIVE, is it only connected to the MPC and nothing else?

No the rme can be used in standalone as a mixer and multitrack recorder. I didn’t disconnect all the gear I had to the inputs and outputs, but there is nothing else connected in terms of computer.

When you connect anything to the usb, mpc live, iPad, iPhone, etc to the UFX it goes into “host” mode. The mpc locks up like its slaved to the sound card, I can’t even press play. The pads work and everything else but the audio doesn’t stream to the soundcard.

I think I could contact Rme support and maybe get some answers but I don’t NEED this feature although it would be cool to have.

I can confirm the exact same behavior with my RME UFX in CC mode: no sound

My guess is that the audio interface must be strictly class compliant..I had a hunch about RME’s class compliant mode and you confirmed it..

The L-12 has a switch than turns off class compliant mode. When off the Live doesn't see it. But it does when class compliant mode is on. It just doesn't see all the inputs. On iOS the L-12 works as expected. With the iPad recognizing all 8 inputs.

Do the RME interfaces mentioned work with iOS?

Yes rme works great with iOS. I don’t make videos often but that thing is bad ass to have as a soundcard for an iPhone,
Thought the mpc would just as simple. Not true. I’m sure there is a way to turn off host mode, but haven’t found the time to contact rme about it.

Although I had no luck with my UFX, I tried my Elektron Analog Heat mk2 (which just got an update adding CC mode) and the MPC Live main outs passed thru USB to the Analog Heat and was able to be processed thru the unit. The Analog Heat's analog inputs stay active in this mode as well.
In my limited testing I was unable to sample with this setup--I could see levels, but could not initiate recording--but could have been user error.

It records all 4 Channels to the Audio tracks at the same time?

I'm guessing it allows 1-4 inputs because MPC X has 4 inputs compared to MPC Live's 2 inputs.

What about Audio out's? Does anybody have a class compliant Audio card w/ more then 6 out's and do they work? Wondering if 8 might be the limit because that's what MPC - X has....?
