Hello!
Please let me know - if it's possible to route next scheme:
- PC send midi (assigned to 1-16 midi channels) to MPC 1000
- MPC 1000 send midi to hardware synths (assigned to 1-16 midi channels) using both A and B midi out

my problem is - how to split A and B from PC to MPC?
Or kinda filter what 1-16 midi channel would go to A and what to B?

Cause currently they kinda doubled - i.e. both A and B midi out play the number of midi channel MPC get from PC.
Is it possible somehow to make some 1-16 channels send just to A midi out and others just to B midi out?

Yeah, I should mention this.
Well, partly you right. I use PC to make basic arrangement and then transfer data on MPC. So it's mostly unwillingness to switch cables and change routing then.
Plus, using MPC from the start I already set on MPCs channels synths patches numbers etc.

So is it possible to route as I said?

Sure, if you're working with software anything is technically possible. If you're looking to route midi around all over the place it sounds more like a problem for software like your DAW to solve. On the MPC you really want to track out a specific midi track to a specific MIDI port and channel.

Without knowing how all your hardware is hooked up you might be hitting OMNI/Global settings or IN/OUT/THRU issues. On the other hand, it also sounds like you're not quite aware of how MIDI works, and you might want to brush up there.

In particular, you're not going to be able to send channels 1-16 from the PC to the MPC and then have it route from A1-A16 and B1-B16. On the other hand, if you have the PC output channels 1-16, you ought to be able to choose either A or B and just do a THRU from the MPC to the appropriate hardware on the backend if they are assigned the proper channels.

I know it is out of date, but the MIDISPORT 8x8 was able to do the types of dynamic routing you're looking for back in the day. Might be worth looking into something similar or seeing if it would match your needs and has modern drivers.

Let me try to explain:
I assume that I can't send more than 16 midi channels from 1 midi output to 1 midi input, which is obvious. So I thought that it's only possible to route them later (inside of MPC), let's say send midi channel #3 thru MPC to "A" midi out but block it from going thru MPC to "B" midi out.
But as I get from your answer it's not possible.
And yes, probably some extra midi interface could do this, but it's not an option currently)
