With 2.7 is out of the way, what do you think 2.8 should be?

Porting the air spectral analyzer would be dope.

Hype isn’t coming to the Mpc, I’d imagine maybe a smaller sample based drum synth like what the one air dropped a few months ago.

I’m looking forward to more integration within the akai ecosystem and connections to other hardware. An example would be connecting the live and force and being able to steam the internal tracks to each other.

Edit. Third party plugins for standalone. I know it’s a Stretch but it would be dope if you could buy them like a cheap app. Think it would be cool to have say a wavestation on my live itself for example.

Ak Sys would be good to have these days. I wonder if they own the source code for it. That was before the inMusic days if I remember correctly.

Yes it was, but I would assume all those IP's would come along with Akai Pro purchase.

You're not alone. I haven't tried to use the software in a meaningful way since 2.0.

if I'm Akai, right now I'm thinking how much of a PITA having two operational modes is causing (standalone vs controller). It's like having to support two products in one platform. I was one of the people early on saying that having two modes in one platform was going to be a challenge, and they should keep the controller (MPC Touch) separate from the standalones (Live and X). I was also yelling that Akai has no business trying to create a DAW - they're just too far behind, and they don't seem to have the resources to pull it off. IMO, the Live and X should be 100% standalone, and the Touch should be for controlling the software. Actually if it were up to me, the software would never exist. LOL

Anyway, I'm just rambling. Would love to see the things on these lists in this thread.

I held out hope for the software through 2.5 I think. I wouldn't drop controller mode for the Live/X as it provides great efficiency for basic functions, eliminating the need to "track out", for example. I'm sure some are happy with what's there at the moment.

Maybe just me dreaming, but if I were them, I'd put maximum resources into it for a year or so in an attempt to get it on par. Either outsource it or straight up buy/partner with someone. They seem to have something going with Ableton already. If at all possible, I'd like to seem them take advantage of that relationship in one of those ways.

Akai has the potential for a killer ecosystem. IMO, they're 4-5 key DAW features & an MPC software compatible keyboard away from the next best thing to Native Instruments' ecosystem. IMO, they have the advantage in software already, but of course lack virtual instruments. Their relationship with AIR could come in handy there.

IMO, hybrid ecosystems is where it's at. If Maschine had standalone capabilities, I'd be 80%(?) in their ecosystem, plus Studio One, hoping for them to flesh out their software.

For a real multi purpose DAW, they need to involve all the IN MUSIC brands. Air, Akai Pro, Alesis, Denon DJ, M Audio, Rane, Numark, Sonivox, and MixMeister. It reminds of when CBS would not communicate with CBS RECORDS for music. LOL

I think VST hosting in standalone would be amazing. If I could run my Arturia V collection out of the house.....

Maybe Arturia will make a MPC LIVE/X sound packs. Or you could make it for yourself, with the Auto Sampler.

1. Portamento!

2. Track select: A option to change tracks using shift plus pad number.

3. Timing correct & click: Put this future back to traditional location. F1, f2 soft keys. The remedy to MIDI/audio can be shift F1,f2

I'm not sure if this is a bug or it's supposed to operate this way. While the sequence is playing and you change to sequence 2 it doesn't show that it has changed. You have to guess.

6. Gridview: using the pencil, erase and select should all allow You to two finger zoom in or out.
Three finger scroll left right up and down.

7. cursor movement: Cursor should flow through the entire GUI from left and right up and down in its proper order of operation. as of now it skips to different directions.

8. Option to use mouse in standalone gui.

9. Browser: add a copy, paste function to shift menu. 

10. Browser: Optional waveform view that can show/hide von left hand side.

11. Song mode needs explode tracks.

13. Main button should close and return to main veiw On all sceens of controller and standalone gui.

14. Main button. Option to expand (show/hide) effects and mixer settings on main view by clicking main button once.

For 3rd party plugins on standalone you need better cpu.
I agree, that would be dope.
Maybe coming with new hardware?

Yeah, I don't get the lack of cooperation between the brands. They have everything covered.

I’m saying like reason or Arturia develop something specifically for the Mpc software that can be used standalone.

Maybe even a small effects suite or something .
I know these companies wouldn’t develop these apps unless there’s some sort of partnership. Or maybe with development on the ableton integration as the akai machines start to have more parity they are setting a foundation where this might be possible.

I’m the last person to be speculating on apps, development, etc but food for thought.

I believe it was mentioned by dan a ways back that hype isn’t possible on the live/x

Tempo and time signature editing in standalone. Being able to adjust the tempo and time signature within user defined regions, within individual sequences, would be cool if it could be done without jumping around or altering default settings. Being able to record tempo - like a q-link drawn automation curve for example - could be implemented with in the live/x i think?
If anyone has a good working method for this stuff, please let me know. I’m new to MPC and appreciate the tips and insights available here in the forums, thanks.

Good ideas so far, what i would like to see:

- Open USB port for Midi interfaces, i need more midi
- Linear workflow like in the most daw's
- VST light, open for small vst's

Do any of you actually use your MPC Live in standalone mode often? If so, why don't you want Hype as a standalone synth? TubeSynth, Bassline, and Electric are mediocre at best, IMHO.
