Perhaps I'm the only one noticing, or thinking I'm noticing, but there's a sense of lack of confidence on the boards, whether Akai is really going to satisfy the potential of this platform. Feature requests now, aren't promise and excitement, its hope. Maybe I'm wrong, but if I'm Akai, I'm taking notice of threads and comments like "just get something else and don't look back" or "all I want it to do is...", or "the software is useless to me". Heck I even read a comment from someone (can't remember who) that at least they would have been satisfied with a new mixer GUI. ***a new mixer GUI*** That's where expectations are at this point. Not something you want to hear and read as a vendor. Hope is slowly creeping in.

So, 2.8, 2.9 and 3.0 should aim to restore that confidence. Splice took some of the confidence away. I think the Ableton "integration" took more of it away. Folks are questioning end of life. Again, never something you want to see from your customers.

What I'd like to see in 2.8? A commitment - pick one: a) DAW; b) music composition tool. Lack of PDC alone means it could never be taken seriously as a DAW. Pick a direction with it, and go. Also, stop catering to Andy's obsession with clips. Leave that for the Force. Finally, you allow me to put a 2Tb drive in it, at least give me a way to sort / filter / search. That alone would be worth an update IMO.

Honestly, complaining is just the way some people are today, no matter what the gear is. I was talking to a gentleman about the new SSL Origin. He's used every existing large console, SSL have and people with no experience or very limited experience, complain about what it can't do.

All this does for a company is hurt their directions, because they're getting request from people. Who turn on the machine every 2 weeks or only listen to Youtuber's. Who throw out terms like going DAWless, when they're using a Hardware Digital Audio Workstations.

Say things like I don't use a computer, but they own a MPC LIVE of X. Which is a computer. Honestly it's a tough minefield to navigate. Do people even remember why we wanted computer integrations. Because to do everything we wanted on hardware, we need 10 pieces and they all had to talk to each other aka EURORACK.

It's pretty obvious Akai Pro's focus is having the MPC as a hybrid workstation. Lite lifting in standalone and heavy lifting in hybrid. I say they stick to it and ramp up their updates. Most thing you suggest, I agree with because you're a reliable source. Whose quality audio knowledge, matches their quality musical creation. This is who/what Akai Pro needs doing beta test. The whole everyone gets a vote, makes for too many head chefs in the kitchen.

That's why l pick a studio that has close to what l have in my arsenal. That's why l get the best stuff in case a singer or producer comes over. I wana make them comfy.

That's one of the reasons l keep my Live. Its portable and l can take it to any stu. So if a stu don't have the MPC at all no problem l have mine and hit the stu :-)

Well see that's why l left Apple also they make me sick wkith all the upgrading all the dam time. You blink they have upgraded five dam times. In my home stu l will stay with the PC and windows and keep my main computer offline completely. Don't you know l still haven't unpacked my monster computer? lol l got that joint blown out. i7 Windows 10 etc. One day l will then l gotta reload all that crap back in it , from Omnisphere to waves effects :WTF: :Sigh: OMG! That's going to take weeks!
But anyway l will not have PT nor Apple Mac in my stu. Don't need it.

Studio one is behind? How so? S1v4 is ahead of PT if you ask me and other Pros that left PT for S1v4. PT only have it by the HDX abd really not that anymore Cause Presonus have theur own HDX like system. Thay ain't playing no f****ing games over at Presonus. Have you seen the new update? l have it that ish is amazing. Nah if out of Reason or Bitwig l'd say Akai need to hook up with S1v4. You know l love Reason 11.

CharlesRandolph wrote:Well it was LE. and I'm sure they were tired of supporting older systems. Let's not forget, that it was Apple that forced most of that gear to junk piles. The full system with dedicate controllers and I/O is still very much relevant, in movie, television, videos games, and the audio side of things.

Sure there are many different plug in and software DAWS out there. But if you take your project to another space, and they don't have the same Software DAW, Instruments, or Plug. It can really hurt things. As you know that's why we work with stems.

Truly this is the wall, that is hurting the MPC Software and Hardware. I remember a time when every home, project, major studio had a MPC. Now that's no longer the case. Everything is fragmented, which is why Akai integrated Ableton, simply due to their user adoptions rate.

Ableton, Logic, Pro Tools, and Cubase, are the big 4 with FL Studio a distant 5th. So if I'm Akai Pro, I'm going to integrate with one of them. Studio One, Reason, Reaper, DP and Bitwig are behind and not worth the dev time.

Danoc wrote:LMAO LOL  let me be honest. I can't stand Avid and l will never buy PT again. But dammit the HDX system is terribly DOPE! Even when the HD system was out it was dope. That Le series and how Avid treated us was wack. When you have a system that doesn't tax your computer and you can throw as many plugins at it that you want you are covered. Certified PT engineers be killing it with that.

LOL man the X/Live is as transparent as Casper the friendly ghost

And there it is. I lost confidence long time ago. I then got excited about Air products . Aint that a crap? I've stopped looking at Akai for anything. Why should l when l have a bad ass computer doing my deeds? I will never look at Akai like that again. Im set, no need for a new standalone MPC for me. I wouldn't care if they made a new one and blew it out, l wouldn't buy it. They should of done that from the getty up! You know l love a tight sequencer , Reason 11 has a tight ass sequencer , they already toik the bar section to 128, l believe soon the sequencer will go to 128, lt will be over! Don't need the MPC . When l decide to get the Air effects wont need to design my drums on the MPC live.

I screamed on Reason Studios and they freakin listened! I couldn't believe it. Akai really aren't listening so l won't support any further.

Oh ok, they sale stat behind gotcha. Cause in functions they are ahead of PT by far. Glad we cleared that up. I never thought l'd see the day where people are saying PT is garbage lol

CharlesRandolph wrote:They're are behind with end-user adoptions. Studio one may be 5% to 6% of DAW market. Unlike PT which is like 15% to 18% sales. Once my DAW Sell Stats come in for 2019, I'll have an accurate number.

Yeah I agree (thank for the compliment btw, and likewise).

I don’t mind the hybrid approach. I just think the DAW aspect of it - they’ll never get there. But then again, I’m a bit jaded, because even if they did, I still wouldn’t use it. LOL

And you’re definitely right - it’s all a computer inside.

You know why people are like that? Their minds have turned to mush! To much digital stuff, got dam iphone this and that, their minds have gone wacko. Short attention spand. Just look back when we didn't have all these phones and electronics. That's why l meditate everyday and keep away from devices fir a while. People want things to do it for them instead of the joy of doing a think tank to solving a work around.

You think lm lying just look how fast the threads went up about 2.8
We just dammit got 2.7 and in a second dudes are already on 2.8
Smh crazy asf!

Me too l won't use their software. Their to late! They will be lite years behind. That's why l said another standalone MPC is not coming. Look at the direction Akai is going. Ablive is already out there working so Akai is rolling with that.
If they make another standalone how many will buy into it? Im not. Im done!
I just don't need to. Then there will be those that can't afford it.

Yes people want 2.8 way too fast, dudes don't even know how to auto sample or time stretch. My days of having ton and tons and tons of gear are over. Upkeep, Electric Bill, Constantly checking for gear updates, Tons of money spent on cables a year, dusting, re-arranging gear. Same thing goes for plug ins and software updates.

Man, the cabling ALONE was a PITA - cost and organization.

I think though, the sudden attention flip to 2.8 is more a reflection of the little value that 2.7 brought to the general MPC community (I'd like to think this forum represents the general community anyway). But yeah, you're definitely right, the "instant gratification syndrome" has something to do with it too.

Man I still haven't tried that AutoSample on the MPC. Used to use it a lot when it was auto sampler (Redmatica I think was the company name). Useful utility.

Yeah you are definitely right, there is a lack of confidence on Mpc users after Splice and Ableton integration.
I think that when Force came out, they changed development on Mpc, you can notice Ableton integration was made for Force users and then implemented on Mpc.
I guess they are working on Force because it is very unready while Mpc is now at a good level of development.
Yeah it's weird that we have Splice and Ableton integration but we still cannot change the order of fx and tracks on standalone without being forced to play a sort of Tetris to work it out.
I am not even sure there will be a 2.8 at this point, but of course I hope so.
I still think Akai comes out with a Mpc2 with 3.0, i might be wrong of course.
Anyway personally I am not so much into disk streaming, I don't know if I can trust my Mpc to read from HD to play files, it could also lead to errors and hiccups.
I would like to have the chance to lock a keyboard to a synth and play it live while I am on other tracks, that would be nice.
But at the moment I am considering to get a Mc101 to use as a synth module because I don't really know if this multimidi is coming or not.
And that's fine for me.
Mpc has some really good features and some crazy omissions, I take it as it is and not pretend more updates will change that.
With a better cpu maybe something could be improved but I can say Mpc as it is now it's a really good workstation for me.

autosample is the thing to may keygroups out of VSTs and hardware keyboard romplers and stuff, no? I thought the MV had that back in the day. I personally don't give a shit about that really... i would rather just keep those sounds where they reside and make different stuff on different gear or only sample as needed if it involves a song in the mpc. The idea of converting motif (or insert keyboard/vst name) patches sounds like a total drag.
