BAAAAAAAMMMMM BINGO!
Dudes are clicking in notes wth their mouses! Turning knobs, using loops etc.

I play my notes, more expressive!

If Akai was to make another machine it should be like the X had sex with the Live and made a baby! It would be between both machines. Purely standalone , hook up to the computer. If it does let it work via midi with any DAW. Akai stay focus on the standalone.

1. Let it be a little bigger than the 2000XL.
2. Give it touch screen on tilt.
3. Full tranport section and all the knobs like the X. It can be done.
4. 8 outs plus 2 stereo outs.
5. 32 audio tracks. If you need more go to a DAW!
6. Keep the same tech stuff, like, export , exploding etc.
7. Ram, 32GB, expandable to 256GB.
8. DVI or HDMI input on the back so a person can add any size screen to it.
9. 4 usb ports.
10. Enable mouse use for those that use a mouse.
11. Disk streaming.
12. Nice fat pads.
13. Option to have internal sounds or not.
14. Keep the dope Air Instruments in it, add Hype.
15. Partner up with a company to get top quality pro effects.
16. Battery.
17. Phono connection.
18. A real 3 prong power cord. Not that flimsy crap the live has.
19. Blue tooth and wireless connection for enternet.
20. 48 + phantom power mic pre on it.
21. Keep the dope convertors!

Others can add on.

Would l buy this? Nope lm into my computer and have notch power there.

I wouldn't want to see Ablive nor Splice attached!

Yes, I agree - they are.

It's Akai's (Andy's) obsession with clips. Push buttons, make sound.

I’m going to take this to the next level by selling all my gear and use that money to hire a ghostproducer, to whom I can yell ‘sound!!!’ at to have some dopeass beats pumping out of my speakers.

I don't usually jump to conclusions, but Thomann not having it anymore is interesting, and a big retailer in Helsinki doesn't stock it anymore, either.
I'd make a super wild guess Live isn't being made anymore.

To solve the keyboard work station, all Akai has to do is make a MIDI keyboard that can tether to the MPC LIVE/X and which is 100% mapped to the function of the machine.

This is from Mpc Live thread on GS.

"Late to the thread and not sure if this has been discussed without me trawling through hundreds of posts but I've just been in touch with UK Dealer GAK www.gak.co.uk

They've got an Ex-Display MPC Live on sale for £760 (went on sale today) so I had a quick web-chat with them asking questions about the unit and when they expect to have new stock.

They replied that they're having difficulty getting new stock and think the LIVE may be discontinued soon.

Arghhhh... after a lot of research I'd decided the LIVE is for me, but the discontinued rumour has me worried

Sounds to me like they shifted all the MPC LIVE parts to the FORCE. If you count the Touch and Live together. that particular form factor has been around since 2015. Plus if they add song mode to the Force, that pretty much ends the Live. I think in today's time, that something being discontinued does not mean Akai Pro will not support the machine.

Or new Mpc with 3.0, new cpu and more Ram?
I think Mpc went better then Force, I don't see much enthusiasm about Force.
You may be right, and that would be a shame.
But I still think Mpc has a good market, people still use old Mpc so there is a niche for that.
And damn, Mpc is just some steps behind from being the perfect groovebox, if they improve midi and put a good cpu and 4 or better 8gb of Ram.

Here in the US, the live is still available. They could've allocated the remainder of MPC Live away from markets with low amount of sales. I always thought the MPC LIVE/Force was more of a let's get rid of extra parts projects. Now even more so, considering the live/force are the same price now. $999 US.

MPC Live is down to £749 (new) on dawsons.co.uk after being reduced from £835.

Might point to clearing out/discountinued as others suggest!

If that is indeed true - Would be great if we had a way of applying a hardware update once the new boxes are out.

Yeah, the £749 is about 983 US which brings it closer to the $999 USD price. How about the force?

I don't think the update will be an issue, because of the MPC X.

I'd say you're probably 90% right! They won't restock l bet either. The new MPCs are not selling like hot cakes.

It doesn't necessary say about poor sales: what it says at least, though, is that Akai are not supplying it anymore…which probably means a new thingy is on the way (which isn't surprising of course, as every company needs to come out with new stuff more or less).

I'd say Live is a pretty dope device.
Watch it become "RARE" and prices go up! :P

There's no bum rush to get a live. Unless you can prove there is a ridiculous amount selling.

We shall see if they make another unit. Im not buying into it.

Oh like a dead rapper sales more than he was alive? lol
Bymember04959388 Mon Dec 30, 2019 2:19 pm
@ Fanu

If that was happening on both Live and X, I would say that Akai is just coming out with more powerful Mpc.
It's just quite strange that only Live is apparently out of stock in some important shops.
That could just mean only Live is gonna be discontinued.
But really, Akai is unpredictable.
So let's see on Namm.
A new Mpc would be great for me.
But at this point we cannot know

It's been nearly 3 years since the last MPC release so it's always reasonable to assume a new MPC coming around NAMM time. But I seem to remember that the Live went mysteriously out of stock in the EU before (year or so ago), so might be nothing.

Most of the 'wish list' features for the Live are fixable via software updates, so I had assumed that the hardware might possibly stick around while they implemented stuff like disk streaming, with additional revenue coming from software upgrade fees.

Really hard to tell what's happening ATM with the MPCs and the Force. I can't see them changing anything on the Force hardware front, not after only 12 months, but I think they've realised the the force was overpriced, so hopefully it will start selling now at the new price, especially if they release the promised arrangement mode asap.

But if there's a new Live coming, I'm intrigued to see what new hardware features it will have over its predecessor. More Qlinks? Zonal pads? Tilt screen? More memory? Better I/O?
