10+yrs ago, yes, I thought the same. I avoided Behringer like the plague.
Seems they have stepped up and have been making decent stuff lately even though I am still wary the past.

Yeah, not sure what happened at Behringer, but they have absolutely done a 180 on quality. Maybe Fresh can get us some info on what changed in the company.

This cat seems to be a lot more dynamic then the other offerings. I don’t know much about the last few they released besides the obvious, but seems they are really getting this down. I’d expect them to part these out into new combinations like the crave is using that prophet voice, and the model d filter.

This is what I can tell you as an owner of several Behringer synths.

The build quality is really good for the price point.

Nothing feels cheaply made and most importantly, they all sound great.

I think they were able to turn it around because they own their own manufacturing city and they build all their own parts including the chips which is why they can keep the costs down.

I also learned from Noel Brass Jr. of the band Afrocop who is also a very serious synth geek who also convinced me to buy the Moog Mother-32 and DFAM over the Crave since I'm building several portable modular systems that a few brands including Moog get some of their parts from Behringer's B2B services.

There's lots of great objective one to one reviews on Behringer synths on Youtube check them out for yourself...

Are we going to see a major announcement at NAMM by Behringer this year?

A clone of a legendary sampler maybe?

The RD-9?

A new classic synth inspired by a famous phase distortion or frequency modulation or linear phase synth?

The Arp 2600, Oberheim 8, Yamaha CS-80 clones they announced awhile back?

I’ll agree from what I seen the build quality on the model d was good. Like a mini tank, even pretty heavy for its size. Well heavier than I thought. Build quality far exceeded the roland boutiques in the same price range.

Roland are some cheapskate, skinflint, mofos when it comes to build quality these days...

I was digging the MC 909 back in the day, but never got one. Ended up with the MPC 1k instead.

After getting the boutiques, it’s be along time before I even think about roland again. Synths that internally clip, one drop and it’s done. Behringer stuff felt like solid rack gear in a small desktop format. I wasn’t sold 100 on the sound but that a different discussion.

Behringer is not cheap build quality i can confirm. As stated before berhinger literally build a manufacturing city in China so they cut out the middle man which is why they are able to charge less. Good Products/Good sound for a while now.

I've read an interview with Mr. Behringer from last year and he said there are over 50 synths in development ATM. But he can't tell when they will be released.
So no wonder they come up with something new every week.
