SD3 is richer in features, but could be overkill depending on your needs.
IMO, AD2 is the perfect balance; great sound, great price (on sale), simple and flexible.
The NI stuff provides great value as well (bundle on sale). Abbey Roads, Studio Drummer, DrumLab, Battery, even Polyplex. Just can't layer with AR or SD. Plus all the other instruments in whatever bundle you get. Some good percussion in there as well.
Except for Battery, Polyplex and a bit of DrumLab, these are mostly acoustic sounds. Maybe not modern enough if you're doing today's sound. SD3 has some electric stuff in there to layer with. AD2 has a drum machine pack. But I wouldn't get either unless acoustic drums are your thing.

And yes, Live is the best selling of the two Mpc, I know you like X more but people buyed Live more.
