Sampling at 45 rpm into the MPC-60II.....

I was curious to know. Don't ask me why but I love sampling into the MPC-60II at 45 rpm and then pitching down to the original tempo. My problem is I'm not sure if i'm returning the sample to its original pitch or not. I am tuning to -50 from 0. Is that correct or should I be tuning down less? I know the mpc-60II has the ability to pitch down 10 semitones or -120 or is this incorrect. I seem to be a bit confused. I'm not used to adjusing pitch on the MPC-60II as i'm more familiar with the SP-12(00) turbo - You just pitch down 5 semi-tones to return the sample to it's original tempo.

Please explain if you can.

Also did you guys notice that if you sample into the MPC-60II and you get the 2 !! marks at the end of the VU you are clipping.....for some odd reason it's not nearly as noticeable as when you begin down tuning your sample....then you hear pops and ticks.......Any recommendations for achieving optimal recording levels?

yeah clipping gets more pronounced when you tune it down, it sounds like aliasing, and probably is.

As for the tuning, yeah, -50 is negative 5 semitones, and matches the test sample at 33 rpm. I can barely hear the difference tuning it down -49 or -48, it just plays slightly faster and barely is an audible pitch change, they are tenth of semitone incriments though.

No doubt, Elmacaco is the man, he skooled me on MIDI and navigated me around many questions. Really good producer too
