Great news from Akai

Still waiting on the Song mode for the force , it’s only been a year now.

If they laid off 100 people, that does mean something, but a lot of people love their Maschine. I could never get into Maschine, I'm an MPC man!

Last year they laid off 100 people, and iirc the company hasn't been making that much profit (which pretty much was the reason for the layoffs).

I strongly considered Maschine MK3 before deciding on the MPC. I already had the 11U bundle and KK S. I forget now what steered me away from Maschine (it wasn't the lack of standalone). But I was attempting to eliminate a 3rd party DAW, so it must've been something with the software. Being a heavy Kontakt/KK user and having since ditched the MPC software, I sometimes wonder what the KK/Maschine combo would be like.

On rare occasions, I do travel with my Live, and I'm trying to dedicate myself to Studio One, so I doubt I'd go with an MK3. The one benefit would be easier interaction with my NKS drum & percussion VIs in my DAW. I believe the MK3 works in KK (software) like the KK S works in Maschine (software).

I don't see it on the website *strange* - just the Maschine Drum Selection, but yeah I have Komplete 9U, 12UCE, a S49, and a S61mk2 (and DJ stuff) - and I'm positive that I got Maschine with 12UCE...I doubt it was through my S61mk2, and I didnt buy it separately. I started looking at the Maschine (dammit it is not a typo, stop underlining it Windows) when I got real hot and heavy into Komplete, my S61 has the two screens for navigating the VSTs in Kontrol, but I absolutely, positively, HATE playing drums out on a keyboard, its like two steps better than banging my head on the floor for drum sounds, so it was feeling kind of weird navigating back and forth in my setup between browsing with my S61 on the left, then looking to the middle/in front of me where the Push is to play in drums with no scales on, while guessing what was what as I didn't have the color coding to match. I could do it, but buying even a Micro feels worth the price for drums, especially since I used Battery so much these days.

Only reason I haven't done it was they slapped a $50 price mark-up on the regular Maschine, and I felt "attacked" I refuse to pay $650 for something they were selling for $600. I thought about getting a micro, but after listening to Sarah2Hill (NORTH CAROLINA! ... though she moved to LA *boo hiss*) I felt if I was investing, I should go ahead and get the full meat and potatoes (which is why I played around with Maschine). I've also been in a music equipment holding pattern, I bought too much stuff when I went hardware crazy, it was OK when I was building out a second studio, but that plan has been changed and I only have one studio, and one "Live-DAWless Performance" rig, so I have a bunch of equipment sitting there that I am going to just eat my losses on, and flip for one large purchase, was leaning towards the Jupiter-X, thought about that Fantom-7 *despite my objection to the price*, and Moog Matriarch. Was waiting on NAMM, but no reason to hold back now.

OK, I started with 11U and upgraded to 12U. Maybe it came with CE. If the Maschine software came with my 12U upgrade, I could test it out with the KK and maybe consider the MK3 more seriously. I like ecosystems. Having so many NI and 3rd party NKS VIs, I could see the MK3 fitting in.

Yeah, playing drums on a keyboard is a no go for me. Even when I'm all VIs, I use my Live as a controller for drums. I've gotten to used to my custom finger drumming layout to do it any other way. The convenience of not going back & forth is why I considered the MK3. But yeah, that extra $50 definitely deterred me that much more. And no screens on the micro defeats the purpose for me.

To get back on topic, making that decision now, it would be close between the One & MK3. I've gotten used to and fond of the MPC workflow, but don't travel much with the Live. But having even more NKS VIs now, the MK3 would have a stronger argument.

Open Native Access when you get home and look for Maschine, I don't think it was a CE thing, CE was really a dump of their stuff for Battery, I had to buy Noire separate.

The one ecosystem is a big deal, I didn't realize it until a couple months ago when I bought the Arturia V collection, because its part of the NKS, it was so seamless that I would explore random stuff in Komplete and "find out" its actually the Arturia stuff mixed in. I LOVE the Komplete experience, so the chances of me getting a Maschine are higher than something like the One. The truth though is I need neither beyond the form factor, as I already have Komplete navigation via the S61 screens, I already have the Push 2 for Ableton, and I just don't use the MPC in my studio, if its in there, its because I'm taking work off of it to move to Ableton.

I'm happy with what I got, I'll wait until a Maschine Studio 2 or Maschine MK4 or a new MPC that feels worth getting.

I checked as soon as I got home. No go.

I have the V Collection 6. When I got it, it was it or Zebra 2. NKS compatibility tilted the scale. And now Zebra is NKS and will be my next synth if I get the itch.

But same here. I'm good on hardware. If I get anything in the near future, it will be a Faderport 16 to mix on. I'm more likely to pick up VIs though, especially after missing the sale on the Faderport. I won't feel right paying full price now.
