I think you're right. It must be a lite version of the AIR Drum Synth 500. I've never used it, have you?

I downloaded the demo and gave it a try when Air Drum synth 500 came out.
It's very nice, easy to use and sounds good.
I remember I thought, yes, very good, but I already have all drum machines packed in my Mpc Live so I don't really need it.
Is it not a bit redundant to have it on an Mpc?
And of course it will be a compact version of it.
It's very good Air and Akai are still working together for Mpc.
I wish this partnership leads to a Grain Synth on Mpc standalone sooner or later.

When the Air drums came out, I called that they should have something like this on the Live, it could function like a synth, or if it was taking too much horse power, force it to a clip, either way its a great add that I actually look forward to. Being able to take like 4-5 kits that I really like *cuurently* and then using the Air Drum to layer behind them to change the sonics up without changing the kit is exciting.

Yeah it is a very good drum synth.
You can load your own samples and tweak them live, exactly as Mpc drum programs but in a faster way.
If you read the description on Air site, drum synth 500 has been developed with Akai.
So it looks like Air and Akai are really working together for both Air computer plugins and Mpc.
That makes me think that if Mpc platform sells good, we will see some very good addons in the future.

Tried the demo for DS 500. While the synth engine for the drums sounds pretty good, the entire implementation is just sloppy, IMHO. There's no built-in sequencer so you have to drag and drop MIDi file clips for each drum preset they're supposed to be matched to - it's just horrible.

This could have been Sonic Charge's Microtonic on the MPC (which remains one of the best drum synths on the market over 16 years after its release, IMHO). I'm hoping whatever they port to standalone resembles something easier to navigate MIDi patterns through.

Well I guess it will work as drum programs, every pad a drum synth track, so you can use Mpc sequencer and grid edit for the Drum synth.
Just speculating of course but I don't see any problem to implement it on Mpc this way.
And yeah, Microtonic is the king and Redrum the queen.

I just want something I can use to easily change the character of my drums without nose diving through my bloody too long list of drums, I can't speak for anyone else, but after 50 claps, they start to ALL sound the same. So long as I can finger bang it out, I am good. I used to do something like that for Kong in Reason - layering the synthetic drums with whatever drumset I was using.

Either way, this is one of those unexpected but VERY welcome adds that while people are complaining about Ableton Integration, I can still get excited about, it makes me wonder what else they are working on creatively (I'd still like increased stand alone mixing options and am still not a fan of the FX workflow, though I can't pretend to have ideas on how to improve them drastically). Maybe one day we'll get REAL splice integration...

I Organize my Custom Drum Programs and Folders of Sounds. If i stumble across a Nice Kick or Snare etc, in another Kit, I'll hurry up and Extract it, and put it in my Custom Drum Program Folder.

If i need a Clap...Boom...Scroll to my Clap Folder....Load...Tweak

Happy for those looking forward to the drum synth and hope it means more instruments are coming. Get the whole Air library in there.

Does anybody notice that the Live is not in stock in a lot of stores in Europe and the US?
Maybe AKAI got something else coming over the weekend.

Facebook is so toxic *overused word but accurate* - its not just the MPC groups. I didn't know the Force got something, I need to look into that, my Force has been collecting dust for several months now (though that is more me than the hardware).

But yeah FB is full of so many complaints and dumb memes that I've just started ignoring anything with MPC in it and relish the influx of Arcade1Up post I get since I joined those groups after CES...oh and its not just MPC, say AKAI, because the Force groups are complaining also.

That's very weird. I thought the sense of One was exactly to be used as a studio centered box, so I didn't even think they could not put Ableton integration on it.
