crackling noise

Hello all.
I recently bought a mpc 60II with os 3.10 on ebay.
Just got the unit and am very pleased with it.
However some samples , particularly with a long decay sound very noisy and crackly at the end (even the roger linn steresamples supplied on disk).
I know the mpc is known for the 12-bit gritty sound, but this doesn`t sound right to me.
Anybody knows what could be the problem?
Any help would much be appreciated.

Ok,

Might be the sounds on disk.

Try performing a new sample and see if that crackles too when played back.

Then...

You could try testing the sounds through each output of your new MPC60II ... if all sounds crackle through each output then you could have a problem with your machines RAM.

The problem in this regard could be the connections of internal parts ( RAM board ) having come slightly apart during transit of your machine from source to you.

Or ... it could be a little more serious.

Try the stuff up top first.

turn monitor off on the sample screen .

also if the 60 receives midi info while loading the files (tapping pads, playing master keyboard, maybe even active sensin) the saples will crackle someties. Follow mpc3000le´s advice if that´s not it.

yea the small snap scracle pop digital noise thingie... its weird... i didnt always have the problem.. id sample something and i noticed that after mayb 20 hours on it being on and hitting a pad.. id get that digital crackle noise... annoying as hell, i trie d shutting down and restarting but it doenst go away... its not on every sample tho... but when the culprit sample is reloaded even afte r days of not using the same sound... id get that same noise as well.. cant seem to get it figured out... im the original owner of my mpc 60 2 (3.10) just starte d happenin one day.. unfortunately i cant get around it...


not everything has that noise just certain things... cant call it.

thats why i copped a mpc 4k lol

Whats the problem? I love when that happens, you mentioned my two favorite words, noisy and crackly.

mess with the attack + decay

I know people who have fixed this problem by cleaning their ram expansion board pins and connector.

if youre talking about the pops at the end of the sample, they just come and go. its weird, i would have a sample chopped perfect but when i mess with the attack/decay, itll start popping. you just gotta fukc with it till its right. i wasnt looking for a hardware fix as there are enough things wrong with my mp.

you mean trimming pops? remember the mp has a stock decay setting of 18 on a pad, so you won't hear the very end of a sample if you have it assigned to a pad. if you take decay to zero, you will hear everything.

i think scheme is talking about random noises so it isn't a matter of trimming or such .It sounds more like a ram issue .Just try to clean ram connections with contact spray then air spray ( try unplug and replug some of the ribbons from the audio pcb too ). Mine do that too from time to time but that's not a big deal since my music is based on dirt .I don't look for 24/96 sound . For the pops on certain sounds ( like deep 808 bassdrums , it's all about the sampling gain imo )

yeah i know that, but sometimes after everythings trimmed perfectly, with zero decay and attack and when i goto the menu to add desired attack and decay, the pops come back. i used to think something was wrong with my chopping technique or the mp, but im used to it and doesnt bother me anymore
