I dont think Akai is pushing the MPC One as a Studio Centerpiece. Its more or less an Addition to the Arsenal. Akai already has a Centerpiece. They have A Portable. They Have a Clip Base Box. They Have Dedicated Controllers. The Only thing they were missing was a Lower Budget Unit to snatch Potential Lower Price Native Instrument controllers.
They're promoting it like when the Live/X came out......Standalone!!

X/Live Users...Fear Not...Its not a Replacement.....YET lol

My understanding is that it doesn't have the live control mode that they added in 2.7, where you control your Ableton clips, mixer etc from the touchscreen

No ableton integration you mean?
Really?
Is it not a studio Mpc?
That's very weird. I thought the sense of One was exactly to be used as a studio centered box, so I didn't even think they could not put Ableton integration on it.

Why should I be afraid?
Any update on One is an update for X/Live, so it really doesn't matter if Live is discontinued or not.
We can only be happy.
A new Mpc means at least some years of updates, so any update is for all the family.

@ Mpctutor

I thought One has same Os as Live/X.
How is it possible it doesn't have Ableton control if it runs same 2.7 software?
I don't get it.
Does it mean they made another software just for One?

No, it will be the same firmware. They'll just code the firmware to hide the Ableton control bits from the One, it wouldn't be hard to do that, no need for a separate OS.

That said, I am uncomfortable with the idea of them removing software features for no apparent reason other than to artificially restrict the cheaper model. It obviously doesn't cost them anything to include it, and I don't think there's a technical reason behind removing it.

It's setting a precedent, perhaps in the future they might begin to hide certain features from the Live/X, making some features exclusive to the newer hardware. I appreciate that some features may simply not work on the older hardware, but I'm not a fan of removing stuff 'just because'. I always liked the idea of the firmware being identical across all machines, with only hardware to differentiate.

Kinda like how the X's CV Option on the main screen is Blurred out on the Live

Oh that sounds scary.
What's going on?
I also don't like that idea at all.
I was thinking that having all family running same firmware was the winning point of Akai.
Why they do that?
That's unkind and uncomfortable.

I don't have a problem at all with them doing that, if it keeps it soundly out of the MPC Live's camp and doesn't cannibalize the Live sales. Allowing Ableton Live control from the One would be just one more reason why users might not get the Live over the One.

Naaaaa - that's a bit alarmist. There's nothing to suggest that, especially seeing as how the new hardware is NOT getting a feature that the older hardware has. I see no evidence to suggest that the Live and X (and Force) won't remain their "premium" devices, at least for the time being.

Some years down the line, I would expect new hardware to appear that unseats them as the premium line, and of course expect them to not get the same software features as newer hardware.

Tutor is correct. They did with the TOUCH to the MPC LIVE and the RENAISSANCE to the MPC X and now the MPC LIVE/X to the MPC One. At this point Akai Pro only has two MPC's, the MPC X and MPC One. The live is the bastard device that is no longer needed or wanted.

The only reason it stays around, is because they have a surplus of units. As far as the AKAI Force, it's not an MPC. It's different form factor all complete, which share the aesthetics of the Akai Pro look. Unlike software companies which artificially disable things and call it LE, SE, LITE, PRO, SUITE. etc. Doing it to hard splits the full attention that can be given to each devices.

More than two choices is always a bad thing in business.

Uhm at the moment we don't even know if Live is still in production, but I think so.
I am confused about how One and Live overlaps, they almost look the same.
And well, my wish was that Akai was creating an ecosystem for all Mpcs, and I was very happy for that idea.
But if Mpc Tutor is right, that could mess up the ecosystem and he is right, it would make an unpleasant precedent.
Like drum synth only for X and not for Live, or Ableton for Live and not for One and so on.
It puts a hierarchy on Mpc platform.
I liked the idea that every improvement on an Mpc was an improvement for everyone.
Maybe I am just too idealistic ahah

You're confused and you own the live. Imagine a new user trying to decide between the Touch, The REN, LIVE, X, ONE, Studio Black and FORCE. Then a device like ISLA 2400 come along and takes all those sales. Because it's one device, with one focus, and no distractions.
