My biggest gripe with the force is the omission of an erase button like on the Mpc. Back on the day the one button where you could manually set the start and end points of of loop on the Roland sp with pressing the button like you would tap tempo was crazy creative for me.

I wonder if the one will have a certain button/ workflow combo that far exceeds the live. I know I returned a sp 606 because it lacked the button I’m talking about. Although it was a lot better than the 303, and 404 I had before it. Now the sp 555 killed it. They should’ve kept with that line in a genuine sense. They’d be way beyond where the mc707 is today. Although it looks promising to me.

It just depends on how fast you adapt to a new layout. There are certain things, that I will have to get used to. I also have a feeling the shift button is going to get press a bit. The number #1 use for the one will be performances.

Are you getting A-One?

For me, I wouldn't get a One for a couple reasons:

1. I have a Live
2. I keep my sample library on a 2TB SSD - I don't really work with SD cards (though they are up to 1TB now - but not really affordable IMO)
3. I actually do make use of the Live's battery though. But if a Live II were released I wouldn't be hurt if it didn't include one.

Those points aside, I like the layout of the One, though it seems a bit cramped to me. It would be nice to see a similar layout in a Live form factor (same function buttons, full-size pads). What we're seeing in the One, could be a precursor to a Live II.

I pretty much feel the same. It would just be redundant for me having a Live. But if a "Live 2" does appear at some point as a true successor to the current Live, I really hope they keep the battery.

Yeah it doesn't make much sense to get a One if you have a Live.
As I Live owner, I wait for a MK2 with more Ram and better Cpu and that's it.
I don't think One is aimed at already Mpc users, it's more a way to catch new users from elektron, Maschine and so on.

#1 What E said . l don't need to give other reasons, but l do have some.

My live is dope!

I do like the One though.

When does it comes out?

The next version of the LIVE, X should have MIDI 2.0 and MPE protocol. There is absolutely no way the next version of the MPC should not support them. As far as the MPC ONE, they are marketing it to the entry level and that really just I/O not Software. For me Bluetooth, WIFI, and Battery are not deal breakers for music instrument.

The ONE will do 95% of what most people, want to do with their MPC. I know the SD card was mention, but in the next year. Those prices will continue to come decrease. You can get a 256 GB for under $50 USD. So at 24 bit, 48KHz an audio file is 17.28 MB per 60 seconds in Stereo. This will give you 245 hour of audio on one card.

Now if you consider the MPC ONE, X, LIVE only have a certain amount memory, this should be way more than enough. Tutor explains it very well: https://www.mpc-tutor.com/how-much-memory-mpc-live-mpc-x/

The truth is no MPC offers enough outputs, based on the sheer amount of tracks that it can create. I'm a firm believer in 1 in and 1 out, for every 1 track. That's one reason why, having the ability to render 17 tracks and then transfer it, is a best feature on the current MPC. From an tracking perspective.

I know @DANOC said in the past, that he only uses his MPC LIVE for drums. Then he renders them and transfer them to avoid more A/D and D/A conversation.

Yeah you are right.
Do you think with audio over usb we could just record 1:1 on a multitrack?
Or streaming track by track audio to hd in a multitrack way?

It's possible if Akai Pro sets it up. When it comes to multi-tracking, its good if you're trying to pass the audio through an external piece to color the sound. If someone is using a tape machine, then real time is the only way. 24 Track Tape Machine with 24 ins, Mixer with 24 in/out, and 3 MPC with 8 outs. (1 pass) But that's another story for another time.

It does 32 channels over USB when it's an audio interface in controller mode so there should be no reason it couldn't in Standalone, they just have to make it do it. Its the same with all the additional MIDI stuff every one is asking for. The hardware isn't stopping them. At this point the MPC is so far along, that stuff might not be possible because of how it's written. Think of it this way, they've had 2 versions to gather ALL the shit the MPC needs to do to move forward. Some of this stuff is only possible if its planned out from the get go and we don't really know what 3.0 is gonna hold yet. They're rewriting the engine for the 1:1 track layout so they may have started working on some of those other shortcuts too. Or they could be far enough along in 3.0 already we won't start seeing this stuff until 4.0. Its gonna have to start at ground zero though, it probably won't happen in the 2.x lifespan.

USB audio won't really help some folks though. I want more outputs to run into a mixer and outboard gear. If If I need to run something through non-MPC plugins in Logic, Ill just export the tracks and copy em over.

I hope if they really make disc streaming, they could also make a sort of internal multitrack that streams audio track by track to hd.
That would make sense a lot.

EDIT: While in controller mode, is the audio already on the computer or does it still reside on the MPC?

Pretty sure you need to save as from the software to a location on the computer.
