I only HAD a Touch, so I see it in my account. It wasn't mentioned for 2.7. I checked and it was mentioned for 2.6.

I don't know the official status of the Touch, but it's not in any of Akai's dialog that I've seen recently. Is it officially supported or simply still working with the software?

I have the Touch and 2.7.

I understand it works. I'm asking if it's officially supported. From what I can see, the Touch is not mentioned in the 2.7 spiel.

I assume the touch is probably discontinued by now, akai are clearly focused on the standalone units. But as it relies on display link drivers, I can imagine at some point the display will no longer work due to driver incompatibility. They already had a nightmare with high Sierra, they probably won't bother trying to fix it if it happens again

I'm still in sierra for that matter. but it is not a touch only problem. it is a diplaylink problem with high sierra(and guess some displaylink models only). They had some driver beta that was working but not all the time. anyway when you launch the installer for 2.7 the touch is one of the machines that you can select in the first page.

Since we're all speculating..

I'm willing to wager the Live and One share a lot of similar parts (clearly the touch display and CPU; possibly even the main-board and other components). It's possible Akai will merely shift production to the One to get a good inventory and pause Live manufacturing, and pick up Live production once enough One units are in the warehouse.

The MPC X, Live and One share the same main board. Live and one also share the same display. This has been mentioned multiple times.

Pause manufacturing on the MPC LIVE, which is three year old and no longer in high demand. You know how much it would cost Akai Pro do that? Plus they're not building these machine in their spare bedroom. If they are not selling units, they are not making money.

The MPC LIVE productions run is over and they've moved on. They'll make more money selling part and re-purposing the LIVE for the MPC ONE which is what they did, minus the enclosure. The MPC ONE is already package, arrived and/or heading to their destination. Manufacturing probably started over 6 months ago.

That was my worry when I had an unrelated screen problem. So I jumped at the chance to upgrade to the Live when exchanging it.

Good to hear. I have no problem sticking with an OS that's stable. Having problems with the screen unrelated to DisplayLink scared me off. I had little need for standalone, so the Touch was perfect for me until then.

With the exchange, how much did you end up paying for the LIVE? Also how long ago was that?

Well. I think akai has really helped with the buzz on their products. I actually started getting the usual low ball offers for the force I still have up for sale. Haven’t had one offer in 6 months now I got 3 offers all low ball but it’s a start. Figures as I started to come to terms about keeping it...

Gonna take me some time to get everything all set up like I want it, get some stuff fixed etc. I’ve been so busy at work and it’s suppose to be our slow season.

Really just need to make sure I have my live ready to go for a week in south Florida. Hopefully that can fully get me out of my music rut.

Highly doubt it. Thomann even restocked the Live this afternoon. Sweetwater and everybody else here is set to get them at the end of the month, It aint going away any time soon.

I have been interested in the MPC Live since it was first introduced, and I'm still interested despite this new model Akai have just released. I used to own a MPC 1000, which was perfect for me and my workflow. Amazing machine for what it was, but it was running off very outdated internals by todays standards. It could only be maxed out to 128MB internal RAM, and the stock Akai OS was not fantastic compared to JJOS. I eventually sold the unit due to my lack of interest in the industry at the time.

Since I sold the MPC 1000, the MPC Live and X were introduced as new generation standalone units which were better suited for todays requirements. The touchscreen, albeit somewhat criticised in the community for over-emphasis seems like a fantastic option for an MPC and it is great that Akai are continuing this design on their current and new fleet of products. I'm hearing from the community that the MPC One is like a modern generation successor to the MPC 1000. I don't fully agree with this based on the MPC One square design. My biggest issue with the MPC One from a hardware point of view is the lack of I/O. 1x stereo out is just not enough for me and surely many others. Also, USB 2.0?? The 3.5mm headphone jack on the front of the unit, and the master & record trim on the rear of the unit. I will never understand why Akai thought the placement of master & record trim on the rear of the unit, and not on the front faceplate, was a good idea. It would be a good throwback to the original MPC series and also just logical placement of important functionality.

So, despite the MPC One actually having a good design overall, they are severely lacking modern requirements. Worth mentioning also that I lost count of how many times I needed to replace the tactile button sensors on the MPC 1000, hopefully they're a bit more sturdier on the MPC One.

TL;DR Not great, not terrible.

The question is, are you going to buy one? Right now the push is for the MPC ONE...and soon the MPC Live price will drop again, so they can get rid of remaining stock. My theory is, they're aren't manufacturing more MPC Lives, they're shifting their remaining stock to place with higher sales.

I have a friend who manages a Guitar Center and I asked him. He said most inquires are for the MPC ONE and the SSL 2+ interface. They have MPC LIVE and X's physically there. But no inquires, no buys, because people want the newest toy.

The free market is dead.

You don't have a MPC 1000 or MPC LIVE/X. What are you using?

I think the Live will see a revision end of this year or beginning 2021 when 3.0 will likely launch. I want to be ahead of that as I don't think the Live will retain the value that the classic joints did. The only thing that keeps me from believing that 100% is that the X is a hefty investment, and I can't see them revising their flagship so soon.

BUT if disc streaming becomes a thing, they can revise without having to upgrade necessarily. Those dorks will prolly put CV on the revision in place of phono jacks.
