Auto Save Killing My Workflow

Am I the only one who wishes this software could auto save in the background, and not stop me from working/creating while it's doing so? I have my auto save on for every 5 min, because I make pretty large leaps in a creation session within 5 minutes so if the software crashes (and it will) I can just hop back in with at least everything I've done up until the last 5 minutes. The tragedy of this is every 5 minutes something hops on the screen and keeps me from working.
ESPECIALLY if I'm using long audio files in longer sequences. It can legit just make me sit and look at the screen in frustration and perhaps lose momentum.

I'm running a mac pro 12 core 2.7ghz.

If it ran and auto saved like Pro Tools does session file backups, that'd make all the difference.

Doesnt take long to Autosave. 5 seconds tops.

I think it needs ti pause the sessions as its basically taking a image of live data

This isn't a problem. If it annoys you that much, turn autosave off, or set it to autosave every 10 minutes or something. Seriously.

I've since abandoned the software, but I disagree with the 2 posts above. That was annoying. Studio One has similar behavior. Coming from Pro Tools & Logic Pro, I was used to a slicker, non-intrusive auto save. Hopefully they figure out what other developers already have.

You’re not alone. This is definitely annoying. Which is why mature software like ProTools and Logic save in the background.

i stoped using auto save and forced myself to start saving frequently at my own at my own intervals. doest stop my workflow unless I'm ready to stop.

Comming from the older MPC’s, I taught myself to autosave after every task. Chopped the sample: save. Layed down the drums: save. Even in Logic I hit the Cmnd+S every other minute.

Auto-Save is available in Standalone. But you'll regret it....because it Autosaves at whatever Interval you set it to. 5mins, 10mins, etc

Problem is When that Autosave time arrives, The MPC will pause and autosave, NO MATTER WHAT lol. Even if you Recording. So I turn mine off, and carve out 10 secs and save everything

Yea only time I had crashes standalone was when I had auto save on. I like to do it at my leisure. Taking a bathroom break, grabbing some water, etc.

Same. I used to have auto-save set to 10 minutes, but sitting on the couch with my Live and in the middle of a recording a track - the workflow would come to a brick wall stop while it kicked in. I turned it off and have trained myself to just save manually after every major change I make. Works great so far.

Background saving is truly needed, but sadly it may be beyond the scope of what's capable on the hardware (or current software implementation).

I'm sure something could be done for the software. It's the hardware I'm worried about. Anything is possible, but I suspect it's much more difficult. And I don't see many complaints about it, so I doubt it's high on their priority list.

I have a good save habit, and I've only had 1 or 2 crashes in standalone in a year plus with the Live. But I do hope they come up with a slicker auto-save function. It's all good until that one time.
