That's what I'm saying. I think some are bitter because something is wrong with their MPC LIVE. Their lust for gear has corrupted their hearts. YOLO and FOMO has gotten them. Crack fiends for gear.

Naw, as someone who was anticipating NAMM because of Akai (and Roland, that was a waste though), its not bitterness or even lust, it was curiosity at how Akai was going to move forward, and then disappointment that it wasn't an *obvious* step forward - the good stuff we found out later (drum synth & arrangement modes, along with software updates ARE coming).

There was no hybrid MPC that was better than the Live and cheaper than the X, there was no new hardware platform to show the direction of the series, it was just disappointing in that regard. They may have been better served doing (2) announcements, one for MPC One, and then one focused on Q1 and Q2 updates, even if they slip a little on dates, that would have been BIG, instead we had to gleam that information from random YT vids and people with beta access spilling enough tea for us to catch the flavor.

I am fine if new people jump on Mpc train thanks to the cheapest of them all.
The more people buy Mpc, the best we will all get from Akai.
Maybe those people don't know that with same money they can get a better Mpc but I also notice that customers get happy when new shiny products pop up to satisfy the need of new products.
It's also funny to see Live users thinking to buy the One. Quite unsane, they have a better device but don't realize it?
Anyway, long life to all Mpc family, if they are full compatible, I don't see the problem.

As a Live owner, with the current state of the firmware, I'm happy there wasn't something better than the Live, cheaper than the X. Though I'm hoping they do something in the Live format with more buttons & qlinks, I wouldn't be interested until they modernize the workflow, specifically the editing. Only access to 3rd party VIs in standalone and enough RAM to handle them would tempt me otherwise.

With the old guard loving or at least accepting the 90s workflow, and 3rd party VI access being a pipe dream, I can see me on the current Live for a long while. And the One almost guarantees the Live will be updated for quite some time. I'm cool with it.

I'm actually happy akai released this, and from their POV, it's a smart move.

- They don't annoy MPC X/Live users with releasing a better MPC. So those owners still get full support and updates!
- A lower costing MPC for beginners. Smart!

This all being said, the mpc one looks a bit weird to me. Like it's too ''square''? But ADFSDFJKSDFH never judge a book by it's cover. Somewhere I also like it. I like it but I don't

It is ugly, but THAT wouldn't stop me. The smaller pads would though.

Cool to see some finger drumming on it. And I've seen folks get busy on the Push with those little ass buttons. Not for me though.

A Grain synth!!!!
If they made third party synths and fx for standalone, I would even buy them.
If Air made it, I guess it is possible for any company to code their plugins into Mpc code. This way we don't even need Vst.
Same concept of Rack extensions in Reason.

I've saw a video on youtube with somebody having some sort of granular synthezis by constantly switching the start and end point of the sample by automation. Not the real thing obviously, but definitely fun to play around with!

Can you define: Modernization of the editing functionality?

It's all in good fun. But there is lot of bitter lust going on. People have the X, Live, the Force, and tons of other gear. Yet, some how they still are unhappy and/or uninspired to create music. Always looking for that next update to fill that void. I don't know my man, that sounds like a crack fiend.

As far as announcements, there are tons of events for these companies to announce other gear. Musikmesse, MIDEM, Winter Music Conference, Synthplex, KnobCon, etc. But waiting around for that stuff, will drive you mad.

I appreciate every feature on the X/Live. Because everytime i dust my Legacy Units off and Make a Beat, OOO WEEE!!!! Light Years Difference.

Here it is we complain about the Most Ridiculous Things on the X/Live/One. I suggest everyone Grab a Legacy Unit, and attempt to make a Beat.

Its Like Hoppin off a 1000cc Kawasaki, and Hoppin on Bicycle wit Training Wheels on it. Ride the Store and Back

The MPC one is going to cannibalize most of the the MPC LIVE future sales, from sheer price point. As far as pushing it as an "entry level/beginners". That's all marketing talk. Because the MPC ONE's software and functionaly is basically the same as the MPC LIVE.

What can the MPC LIVE do that the MPC ONE cannot do? A battery, 1 Extra midi i/o and 4 more outs.

Would love to see a Live mkII, and an MPCK61 (credit to Lampdog for the name). But I think it will be a while before either of these happen (if at all).

The One is a :hmmm: to me, but most of Akai's moves are IMO.

If my Live quit, and the only option I had was a One, it would still suffice, because it's about the same as what we have today. Nothing more, nothing less. That's why I'm disappointed. It's the same functionality, same capability, in a less-expensive casing. I get it - draw in new customers, and I'm all for it. Doesn't impact me at all.

But NAMM didn't show advancement in the overall platform, at all. Drum synth is cool and all, but who on this forum doesn't have a gigabyte of drum sounds??? If I'm Akai, I'm not letting a NAMM go by without showing how this platform will advance in the coming calendar year. But to use it to showcase the same functionality, in a less expensive casing is meh. I'm just glad that no one has used the term "game changer" when it comes to the One. LOL Charles and Danoc, leave that last sentence alone...
