Could we talk about the new MPC one?

Are the pads LPD size?

Maybe. But it'll also get people to buy into the MPC brand that may have went with something else instead.

Regarding aesthetics, the Live is my favorite. I dig the rectangular shape. The only thing off the One I'd want are the additional buttons.

Is the case of the One metal or plastic? If metal (aluminum?), I'd appreciate that as well.

For a Live MK2, I hope they keep the general look and layout the same. SLIGHTLY bigger for more buttons & qlinks, but that's about it. Keep it consistent.

Also, I don't think the One will take sales from the Live. It's new, so I think it will sell better going forward. But I think there are enough differences to cater to 2 different user types.

I'm really exited about this new machine. Can't wait to get my hand on it.

I feel the same. Also, pretty sure the One's panel is metal but without the rubberized coating that's on the Live.

Unrelated but worth mentioning: I think I read somewhere that the One's USB port is just USB 2.0, whereas the Live is 3.0.

Now I'm dreaming with a scaled up version of the One. Full sized pads. X screen size. HDD. and more q-links. but same form factor. Though I like the One being small too. More outputs. Phono preamp...

Tt - picture the force chassis but with the one layout... make a killer Mpc...

Naw Enoch, I am unsure why you are so sensitive? Have you never been picked on or made fun of your friends back and forth?

We might be strangers as you will say but it’s a part of kind of part of American culture... maybe not one you like but you will find it everywhere from construction sites to “clowning” your buddies. It was the whole point of the nastiness with me that one night.

Let’s hope there’s no more feelings getting hurt. It’s all in fun man, no matter how tasteless.

Now from looking at the One, it would be more compact than the live. I really like this machine. I don't mind the pads being smaller, Ima do my thang on it regardless. As long as they aren't small like the Boss Dr-5 LOL Lil circles, ain't nothing worse than those pads.

Guess what, If I could trade in, use my receipt and show how much I paid ($975 2017) to get the the One which is $799 and call it even, I would do it. My MPC Live is in Mint condition. But..............................
If some store would honor that, it would be dope, but on the real, the battery would stop me to do a trade it. But if the Live never had a battery I would do the trade. I almost got the X, but then I was saying to myself, "why would you pay that amount of money to do just drums on? " It didn't make sense, so I opted for the Live.

Funny thing is I am looking around everywhere and the One seems like it will do good in numbers.

The one will do amazing in numbers. That os alone is unmatched in the sub 1000 range. Look at the things in the price range. Digitakt, notation circuit, only thing comes close is mc707 but that is priced way higher

They're not Boss Dr-5 small in no way, shape, or form. Those buttons were trash, they would get stuck under the chassis. All AKAI PRO did was cut down the parts of the pad, that does not active the sensor. Visually they are smaller but physically, you're striking in the same place.

Well I will say this, the smaller pads on the force you can finger drum with some practice but not ideal for someone used to bigger pads. Where the force pads excel is the expressiveness to them.

I know they are bigger than the force pads so I’m guessing it’ll be fine. Most “vets” wouldn’t even have a hard time with something like 2 force pads sized, much less the ones on the one which I imagine are bore than that

I had no issue adjusting to the Force pads, took a whole 3 minutes. The force is just missing, MIDI Polyphonic Expression. I'm still kind of shocked, Akai Pro has not adopted it. The thing with the Force, it's better to finger drum with a typing technique.

I wasn't going to respond to this since we really just need to move on, but - as an American - you and I have two very different ideas about what our culture is - especially a healthy culture. This is also a world wide forum, so Americans aren't the only members here, nor should they be.

Anyway, can we all just move past this and talk about the One?

Anything is possible, but I wouldn't want to test myself drumming on the Force. The One's pads appear sufficient.

And are folks talking sample/chop drumming or David Fingers drumming? Most chop programming is simple. Playing jazz & funk drums is far more complex. I imagine the latter being fairly difficult on Force-type pads, though DF could probably play a typewriter.

David is a BEAST! Also people who do step sequencing will have no issues. They're just pressing button anyway.
