The Behringer doubters are about to be educated with this video. Pay very close attention to how the two OG TR-808s sound vs the Behringer RD-8.

The sounds are similar, the OG TR has a louder output with the main knob at 12 clock. However, the two TR 808, have a different sound, due to the old capacitors from 1980. (As stated in the video.) But, I can use a free TR 808 vst clone, or throw the same samples in my MPC and get the a similar sound.

The same thing goes with the SP1200 and older MPC sound argument. If the caps are changed, the sound will open up again.

The key thing is no two TR-808’s sounds exactly the same no matter what. A good preamp is all you need when tracking your instruments...

But the Pre-Amp has nothing to do with the old capacitors in these machines. This is one reason, people buy two machine with the serials numbers as close as possible. Nevertheless, this will get you 97% of the way and no one could tell.

I was specifically talking about using Preamps on the RD-8 to accent the levels.

C'mon man, you can't tell me you didn't understand what I was saying.

Even when the TR-808s were brand spanking new, no two of them sound the exact same.

Yes, in the video the guy expressed the capacitors dying out which is why when people make silly assertions about Behringer synths compared to the vintage gear they clone is nonsense because the older the capacitors the more the sound changes from its original state.

It takes 10-15 minutes for an older analog synth to warm up to its full state than a brand new analog synth and it usually takes an analog synth about 2-3 years before it reaches its sweet spot pique.

The bottom line is the Behringer RD-8 sounds great!

And no, I'm not buying a disco ball because I already have one. LOL!

Thought you were referring to the TR 808. Did not want to assume. Because you made no mention that you were referring to the RD-8.

Did you own a TR 808 in 1980 and 1983?

Or when you find out how bad the components are.

I can't remember which YouTube show it was mentioned on, I'm thinking BeatPpl for some reason, but it revealed that Moog is using parts manufactured by Behringer to assemble their new synths. If Behringer parts are good enough for Moog, why not good enough for you?

That statement goes from any gear. Only in time do you find out how the components hold up. Also I wouldn't doubt that MOOG, sources parts from China.

Yeah, of course most of these brands are using parts from China and in some cases Taiwan, but you kinda come off Anti-Behringer in some of your comments. I mean there’s a lot more happy Behringer synth users than unhappy ones. I’ve seen complaints about Moog, Korg, Arturia, and Roland synths. I see cats on here complaining about their MPCs. I don’t know, it all seems subjective to me, but you don’t seem to be positive when it comes to Behringer...

Most things that are made fast and cheap, and in large quantity, tends to have poor build quality and quality assurance. It's the small intrinsic details that count.

factories will make parts and products to the spec they are asked. if something is trash quality, it is not because it is made in china.... it is because that is the spec given to a factory and it was deliberately asked for by the person holding the money. If we didn't demand cheap, it would still be made in japan at the first factory akai started using (or maybe in germany in the case of behringer)

Due to many requests, Behringer is going to produce a CR-78 clone. They have asked their fans to design the new RD-78 for their Eurorack form factor and this is one of the designs that Uli Behringer himself is leaning towards...
