More or less I agree with you, the majority of people filling forums with requests are just nerds or the sort, and they think the most cool gears they have, the most they are cool. Meanwhile people who really make music and live with it, don't waste a second on these forums. And they can make masterpieces with 32mb samplers and the sort.
But there is one thing to say.
Given that companies today release unfinished gears, and every company makes it today, then the gear you buy will need years to reach its true potential and it makes sense that people ask for updates to solve problems related to the fact that the gear they bought was just unfinished and not ready at the time it was released.
I don't know if you had the chance to put your hands on Mpc Live or X a couple of years ago, when it was on OS 1.7.
If you compare it with Mpc of 2.6, it is another instrument. The updating process was impressive, on 1.7 there were no synths, the effects were very lame and there were bugs everywhere.
The product manager of Akai was talking daily to users on Gearsluts forum and everything they put on Mpc came also from users suggestions.
Then the manager disappeared from GS after Mpc reached a good point.
I also escaped from that forum, some months later, because it is a forum full of nerds and unkind people to say the least.
So I guess this is a sort of marketing trend, they release products and then make it good through users feedback until it reaches the maturity.
The problem is the quality of feedback you can get on these kind of forums where real musicians don't write anything.
I also don't like to buy unready products as well, I would much prefer to get a gear for what it gives me without thinking it will be improved but it is working like this for every gear and every company that makes hardware in 2020.
And I am happy with Live as it is now, I don't need disk streaming and other requested features but I could not say that when I bought it and it was running 1.7 OS.

Yeah and that's why we shouldn't give money to companies. This trend is spreading all over mate. I'm an hardcore videogame, actually I was because any new videogame get released in beta and they slow update till a new product come out. In the end they make more money like this because they need less resources to make a product.

I didn't buy an MPC in the beginning. I bought one in 2020 because I like where it is. If maybe people stop buying just because something is new or cheap, maybe we could see an improvement. Overall is the end users to define what big companies do, McDonald's is selling vegan burgers because it has to otherwise they lose too much money. If Akai didn't get any money from people in the beginning they could shut down or work seriously on update. Think about it:I have a product people buy in beta version, I might have MPC 4.0 already but people buy my product in beta so instead of realising it I give to you small updates so you think I'm working on it, in reality I'm just tracking your movement and when I need I make a new MPC with 3.0. And I repeat the circle over and over again because you buy a beta product.
MPC will get disk streaming because now it will compete with Digitakt. Loopop on YouTube received one and that's more your typical synth modular guy than your chop sample guy. See what they're doing?
Unfortunately who really give money to people are all hobbyist. That's how Behringer sells.

And about the Akai guy replied to people, **** that! It's just getting information to give to you what you want so they don't have to extra plan on updates. I want a Roger Linn who make a finished and iconic product. A Bob Moog that makes the first analog synth. My point is what people request is the usual stuff what an individual make could be totally unique if he just care about his idea.

Same for tecnique. The standard of today are from who brake the standard of yesterday. People can just suggest you what's standard but they won't come up with something new, that's done by few smart individuals.

About the kind of feedback I totally agree, sometimes I just can't read forum because they're full of basic question which they can answer with few minutes on google. Imagine the customer service of Akai hoe many stupid question it has, that doesn't help us. Because they have data showing the majority of their used are noobs. Back in the day this type of gear was not accessible to everyone, Bob Moog talked with musicians and Buchla with composer when they make their synth. Companies now days they probably talk with "I have a cute face and my YouTube channel has a lot of view for not reason, because I read what I said on LANDR"

Yeah man I agree 100% with your views, I am also kind of getting bored for how situation is moving in forums and marketing but honestly this time Akai is making a good job.
I don't know about the corporation and the marketing choices, and of course they give their products drop by drop to stay in the trend but I am quite happy how they are developing Mpc, I think they are still very smart somehow and the idea behind Mpc is a winner idea, in my opinion.

Been testing the MPC ONE and MPC Software on side computer with only USB 2 ports. Everything works except for being able to see the SD Card, External Hard Drive or USB Flash Drive while in standalone or controller mode. So basically the same issue from 3 year ago. I have another rig with USB 3 and I can see, the external storage devices while in controller mode. This functions should work in standalone as well.

One thing I would like to see, is the ability to use a QWERTY Keyboard as a MIDI controller. Also it would be nice to have the ability, to create short cuts for some functions. As well as use the arrow keys to jump around the screen. I should be able to access every function, without the need to touch the screen.

Definitely! I think the MPC is great but still miss basic stuff. Not really Akai fault if the majority of their users don't even know what time signature is  joke apart these MPC are the best sampler/main brain. A lot of box are unique but often they're just part of your system where with an MPC, what else you need? If they implement the arrangement on the MPC too, it's the end for the rest :-D

Yeah and I am sure Mpc line will evolve a lot in time. They just got the right idea to adapt Mpc workflow with today digital standards.
There is still work to do, of course, but the One release and this rumors about mk2 just show it's selling good and there are funds for its development.
Then yeah, marketing is marketing, forums are what they are but at the end Mpc users will never be satisfied beacuse of this update trend of today: next update, next update!
We have to thank Apple for inventing this beautiful trend.
Anyway MPC rules again!!!

Eh.
Eh. Again.

First, the Akai Fire can function as a MIDI device, people have been using in Ableton as such, of course it reqires more work than plug and play though. As a once avid Fire user though, it would be a terrrible device to use, they advertise "velocity sensitive", but its not, and that *zone* where notes trigger is in a weird middle place, making it hard to create dynamic performances. With that said, I've recently purchased the Launchpad MK3, and it works perfectly with the Live, it even has the various Note & Chord modes, built in. Only downside is it isn't bus-powered and needs a power source, which doesn't take advantage of the Live's battery, but its been great the past two weeks already.

As for disk streaming, I STILL don't get what's so hard to understand about people's wants. If all you are doing with the MPC is chopping up one or two records, layering a bassline, and putting drums to it, then sure, the 2(1) Gig of available storage is sufficient.

But as soon as you try and bring in any high-quality instrument, things literally fall apart. As soon as you start to auto-sample a keyboard, if you try and keep the quality high, you've just drained all the resources.

So if you are just using it as a beat machine - its fine. If you are trying to use it in a more expanded role, a DAW in a box, then its flat out an issue. Can you get around it, of course, but the extra steps and time involved with resampling and clearing, eat at the creative time & energy. I didn't grasp it at first because everything I made initially was beat-driven, but as I've gotten better as a musician in general, its started rearing its head more and more - and my expectations aren't "crazy", I can't even load (2) HQ instruments in, I wanted to auto-sample everything in my FA-06 to have it with me, but yeah, no point.

Yes, it is. It’s for discussion, undiscovered features and workarounds are part of the
hardware/software conversation.

Tell me how 53 minutes of stereo sample are not enough to make a song? I use autosample for my modular and my analog synth without problem. If you use the 8 audio track, each 4 mins long you still have 21 minutes of sample but I'm sure you don't even make an audio track long 4 minutes.
If you sample 4 octave for every note, you use 4 layer of velocity and every note is 3 seconds you end up with almost 10 minutes. If you use 3 layer of velocity is 7 minutes. So technically you could have 4 multisample keygroup like this with 8 audio track 4 mins long and still got a bit left. C'mon mate, for real?
And still you can sample the entire performance and use only 4 minutes.

You also show you don't know much how things works in the MPC. You said you load hq instruments, everything on the MPC get converted to 32bit so it doesn't matter if your sample is 16bit or 32bit,it will take the same memory anyway.

Also do you realise that with the same money you won't buy a computer capable of doing heavy work anyway? If you spend $1000 for an MPC, that's the price of Ableton Live only without controller, audio interface and a good pc. But with Akai I can have 4/5 HQ multisample instrument and 8 audio track in standalone.

And slow down your process and kill your creativity? Mate I don't find good music nowdays as it was in the past and those people had really slow workflow, maybe you should learn from them.
And as I said in other post, you knew the specs of the MPC, why buy it if you know it can't disk streaming and you need big RAM? No sense!

He must be ignorant that disk streaming is super great for people like me who have large software like Eastwest instruments and do orchestral work (music Ques) or music in general that's not about samples.
Doing music Ques you hold that music in midi, not Audio until the music director gives it a green light. You get the music sheet for the real players and go!

Disk screaming is a great asset.

You must be ignorant to use an mpc for orchestral stuff, I can't imagine the nightmare. I would prefer a DAW like Reaper where I can edit my audio precisely in a no destructive way, I could easily make different folder of my project all labelled and organised.
I would use NI or anyway I would give high quality EQ, comp, reverb... to orchestral stuff, no the MPC one. I wouldn't be happy with the mpc multisample engine because I would meed complex articulations for those instruments. I would prefer to work with NI stuff because they're top in term of articulations.
See you use orchestral stuff with a basic multisample engine, not high quality eq/comp/etc but then you ask for disk streaming  I think you're confused mate, your mistake is to use an MPC for orchestral stuff. Here we go again, users that pretend a device do what they want instead of find the device that works for them.
My point is why even the struggle? If I need these stuff I can't get bored to wait Akai, I will simply sell it and move on, I need to work after all right? Here where I think you and people like you make complain just because you have to pretend everything is how you want and you probably don't really work with music because again you won't waist time to wait Akai, you simply move on. An MPC is just a tool like any other, what it matter is my end goal not the type of tool I use.

^^ THIS X1000 ^^

I setup an auto-sample session with my System 8 - lots of pattern based stuff that would be great to have, but having to skip keys due to the limited RAM is totally an issue, no matter what way you do it. Having disc-streaming implemented correctly could potentially make this all moot - and that's just with the auto-sampling feature.

It's strange that some people just think other people's feature requests hold no value just because it doesn't fit their production approach. How does that help anyone? :WTF: :Sigh:

I will bet anyone here that once (if) disc-streaming appears, the new features that are made possible will benefit you and you'll eat that shit up like a Breaking Bad episode. So, just thank all of us now that are constantly requesting it. You're welcome. :smoker:

I don't need disk streaming because when I bought the MPC I knew the size of my project so it won't be an issue for me. What I don't understand is why somebody buy a product they found limited for what they need. You basically use your MPC for 3 years and not be able to do what you want do, why?

I don't understand why people buy a product that it doesn't fit their production approach.

Honestly that's super weird. You spend $1000 or more and wait years for a future you need? I'm sorry but it doesn't make sense at all. And again if you REALLY NEED you would move to another device because you NEED those multisample.

By doing what you're doing Akai can do whatever. You buy a product hoping they add what you need meanwhile they probably don't even look to implement the feature but they take your money and make their business. I really don't think I have to thank you if disk streaming or any other feature come. If you didn't buy the MPC, Akai could fail or be forced to implement cool stuff instead they can give us halfbaked product that you will buy anyway, then when the product lose interest they put the update out or they come up with a new MPC and you'll buy again. Meanwhile you're not using the features you NEED. Smart!!!

I'm not saying I won't be happy with disk streaming I just don't see the logic of users waiting for update, it kind of make me think you don't really need because, again, if you do you get something else.

Btw this is an MPC One tread, I went already too much off topic. I apologise for that.

Yes the Akai Fire can work as a MIDI Device on your Desktop/Laptop computer using AKAI FIRE ABLETON LIVE CONTROL SURFACE SCRIPT. However natively it's not supported, I've found a workaround for it.
