Hi all,

I was hoping the new MPC one would have cv clock output for sync with euro rack..what it doesn’t? Seems like a major oversight no?

Is USB midi clock Output or CV clock output coming for either the One or Live??

Even a way to send the click track to a mono output would do on the live. Usb midi clock would be amazing

Do you mean something like this. I'm much into using euro racks, so my knowledge is limited. However this seems to be what you're looking for.

The MPC cv port have a maximum of 5v. You can sequence your clock and send to your modular. If your module need a higher cv simply use an offset/vca module to boost the cv.
When you select the cv program, you can select the velocity/mod/gate port. Select that and place step as you want at the cv value you need for your clock. Or if you need 5v exactly just use the gate.
Yu can have a cv program without the 1/oct so you could use only gate/velocity/mod.
You could have a clock program so you simply put note on the sequencer or if you're sequencing note from that program use the automation step editor and use velocity or mod automation for the clock division you prefer.
You mainly sequence cv value, it's up to you where they go. You should know that if you use modular. It's all cv, it doesn't really matter how they call it.
A clock is really just a pulse where you change the rate, nothing more. In fact mainly people use square lfo for clock so sequence it's the same but with more control, you can also decide to swing your clock if you're not on the grid.
Another cool thing you can do if you use the program for clock only using the gate you can use note repeat and give a different clock division on the fly. With the random pattern generator you could have S&H(kinda) clock/modulation. Or if you use gate, velocity and mod you could have 3 clock in once to different destination. Sky is the limit mate. Fun stuff!
Note the example above work easily if you use a cv program for clock only because the pitch port is locked of course to 1v/oct, you treat the program as a module.

As TheDoctor above states, you can absolutely do this with gate triggers on any of the 8 outs, most devices will sync to a repetitive gate output at a regular interval, then you just need to determine how many gates you need per quarter note. Something like Pamela's New Workout is super flexible and can easily take from 1 gate per quarter note, to I think 96 gates per quarter note.

The only thing to see is if you need to boost the gate to a higher voltage level, but this shouldn't be too hard with a VCA or similar.

You seem to know what you're talking about. I have to buy a cv to midi module so I could record only, because it's not multi timbral, modulation from my modular system to the MPC. That will be fun! If you have one try and let me know what you find out :)

Yeah, I've got a pretty decent Euro setup and enjoy the nature of the workflow.

What are you trying to do with a CV to Midi module? I haven't played too much in this particular space, but depending on what you are doing I may have given it a try.

What are you trying to do with a CV to Midi module? I haven't played too much in this particular space, but depending on what you are doing I may have given it a try.

I didn't really look into what we can control by midi but whatever really. Mainly for drum/key program so if I could modulate the filter type, that could be cool or to the mpc lfo depth so I can have it fading with an envelope, stuff like that. Then I think I would record the audio or auto sample or record the automation.
I just realised now to be honest and a lot of idea come to mind :lol:
It will give me the extra modulation I want from the MPC.

Ah, that tends to be where I take a track, output the audio to Euro and then modulate filters and cutoffs there. I suppose you could figure out how to route a eurorack LFO to a CC# through a midi module, but that seems far more fiddly to figure out how to map to both a CC# as well as making sure the levels make sense. On the other hand, it's pretty trivial from the X (and presumably One) to output a gate signal from the MPC when a sample plays and have that trigger a VCA, filter, LFO, or whatever in Euro.

If you're using any sort of DAW with your Live check out Expert Sleepers Silent Way. I can control my modular directly from Logic with an instrument plugin that converts MIDI to CV. Gotta have an interface with DC coupled outputs though, my MOTU's got 8 of em, makes for a great CV/Gate station..

From what I remember the 4000, 1000, and 2500 are DC coupled. Does that Black Lion Mod for the X do that?
You know what, let me go back to reading, before I have wall full of euro rack and wires. :lol:

Yeah unless I use a DAW I won't be able to easily adjust the CC#. But wtf why somebody doesn't make a module with an endless encoder for the midi CC#? :Sigh:
I don't think the level will be a problem, a bunch of attenuators will always do the job :smoker:

i output a gate from my X into Vermona fourmulator LFO clock input - which is clocked/synced - which in turn modulates filters etc - very basic indeed

I use an Novation SL MK2 which has 8 endless encoders with LED rings, freely assignable to all sorts of MIDI (cc, etc)

bitstream 3x has those too

Great info on this thread! Is there a module, like the tempeh in the video reference, that could also be used to boost voltage if needed, send clock, buffered mult (probably saying this wrong) but a way to daisy chain more CV outs, etc. In short, I'm hoping to use MPC One as the brain sending out as much cv, gate, mod, pitch data as possible. Sorry new to the eurorack world and any help is greatly appreciated.
