But you can easily assign mod or velocity and step sequence the clock. Or with a completely different cv program you could use the gate as your clock and with note repeat you can give different clock division on the fly or you could record in, of course you don't use the pitch port so it's basically your clock module.
If you need more than 5v you just need an Offset/VCA module.

TheDoctor wrote:Unity gain is at 0db, but 0db in analogue is actually -12db in digital. You clip above 0db on your MPC/DAW, you don't clip above 0db on an analogue mixer. So your firewire works perfectly! Because you can go above 0db on your mixer, so when you reach the clipping level on your mixer in Studio1 you should be close to 0db and as soon you clip on your mixer it should go above 0db in Studio1.I hope it make sense.
That's why in few post later I say I track at -12db in my Daw to give to my plugin what they expect, because they mainly simulate hardware.

Sounds like Mackie screwed up and needs to some kind of button to reset the analogue and digital signal levels.

Why? When you boost your mixer above 0db does the sound come saturated? If yes it just give you the perfect digital signal(-12db). The advantage to have your signal at -12db in your DAW is that it gives the perfect ratio to control your fader and it gives the best audio signal for your fx.. Mackie probably want guarantee that, I actually find really nice.

That's a neat workaround. So with the MPC, that can only be done when the sequencer is running.

Yes, but a switch that reset the alignment of digital and analogue would be much easier.

Yeah that's the only way but it open tons of possibility. I need to see if I can use my modular to modulate the MPC with a cv to midi interface/module. I didn't look into the midi cc but if I can modulate things inside the drum/key program will be dope. I know I can't change tracks but I could record the audio or the midi automation.

But why? If you technically want the best analogue to digital conversation that's your goal anyway. Like this you can easily push your mixer and don't worry about it, you get the colour but no the gain, perfect!

For those who know what they doing, Yes. But the general user, No. Also if someone wants the best analogue to digital conversion, they don't buy mackie.

C'mon  don't be so harsh on them, they sound nice.

I really love using a mixer and other units with the live. I know I am in the minority but with audio tracks I just running them through effects. On the one it’s impossible to work like I do.
You can still rock the mixer, 10 synths effects, etc but you can’t process the Mpc audio itself unless you sacrifice the mains. There’s plenty of options and work around but simply sending a sound to an output without changing anything up is pure magic for me.

This!
Anx honestly man I don't really think we're a minority. I see a lot of people with outboard gear or fancy reverb pedals, it's actually something a lot of people will enjoy.
The Behringer x32 sold so well, it's digital of course but it show how people want to route directly to hardware.
That's why I want an X and a class complaint audio interface.

I don't think you're a minority either. I upgraded from the 1000 to the 2500 (instead of the Live) because I wanted the additional outs. I love my effects boxes & love how easy it is to route audio out of the 2500.

I still need to sell the 1000 & also selling my 500..... might get a used Live now that the prices are so low.

Yeah, until you hit the hard or turn the gain pass, 2 o clock. The new MPC's A/D and D/A conversion is better. Also the TASCAM DM series, programed that switch into their hybrid boards. It really cut down on the analogue and digital metering confusion.

Are you routing your 8 out to 8 different effect pedals? This is something having only 2 outs, that was nice to do. If I wanted to slow down and switch up the recording process.

@ Charles and the Doctor

Yeah exactly. I don't get the problem, when I play live I move around unity level, and all sounds just right.
When I record my live, without touching anything, I have the channels at around -12 which gives me the chance to stay at the right mixing levels before the mastering.
I think Mackie made a good choice for that and I like how it sounds.

@CharlesRandolph is that the network port you always wanted? Can't you take a network cord connect it to the One and a desktop network port and transfer data back and forth with high speeds?

Battery a gimmick? I don't see it as that. That was one of the top dopest things Akai did. Im still getting close to 7 hours of battery life since 2017.

@Frisbi you're right the EQs on the mackie is wack. I had one in like 97' (dam a long time ago) l didn't keep it 2 months. Got the Roland VS 880, then Yamaha O1V then Yamaha O2R. I loved that Yam O2R.
