Why do you prepare drum kits for One, you didn't have an X or Live before?

Yes had the X and Live before and returned them sometime ago. Also I was sent over 20 GB of drums and I had many drum recording session, that needs to be edited.

Using it at NAMM and the fact that the OS is mature, with less bugs. Perhaps less than ideal GUI.
But for this particular use case, it works for what I need it do. I'm not asking for it to be anymore
than what it is. Plus my wife got me an incredible deal on it.

So you tried all the family until you get the baby.
It's curious, usually people start with the baby and then get grandfather. You made the opposite, from the grandfather to the baby.
You will use it mostly as a drum machine, since you were talking about drum kits? Or also you will use keygroups and Air synths?
How is your setup exactly?

This will be used connected to MIDI keyboard and will function like the keyboard workstations, that @Elyac has been pushing for. Just finished editing and creating key groups for this wonderful piano, that we recorded.

You find One faster then Live to change modes and editing?

Cmon Akai, we need that MPCK61. Might be a nice companion to the One. LOL

Realize I wasn’t part of this line of discussion, but just figured I’d chime in because I was laughing with one of my friends the other day. Well, he was laughing at me, because I do exactly what you’re referring to. Lol. I always start with the biggest, baddest model of something, then scale down when I realize that I don’t need all of that. I had an X, sold it recently, and now solely use a Live. But I think that’s the model I’ll stick with - wouldn’t get a One. But I do like the look of it. I’d get a Live MKII if it was compelling enough though.

Well, why not?
It's the good side of new Mpc, they are all compatible so you can pass your time.swapping units, selling and buying them without changing your music.

I agree. Though I don’t swap much. I do settle on a model. Else it becomes like the shiny object syndrome. Buy, sell, buy, sell, buy, sell - I have a friend like that too. LOL - I swear he spends more time swapping through models of gear than he does actually making music with them.

This depends on your use case. Personally, out of every MPC, I've owned the MPC 4000 works for me. It's by far the most Pro Audio MPC every made so far. It's was built for the professional sound engineer in mind. SMPTE, WORD CLOCK, Full Fledged Sampler, DIGITAL I/O, MIDI, ANALOGE I/0, ADAT I/O, Dual Footswitch, 24/96, XLR and 1/4 outs, Low Midi Jitter, etc. Hard to believe it was made in 2002.

Akai has not released, anything even close to it since. This is why I returned the MPC X. These new MPC are centered around, computer software techs and less the audio engineer. This is why the MPC ONE, LIVE, X to me are really the same.
