I'm a diehard MPC guy.. I will say back In 2013 akai was not behind the times.. and then I jump to maschine bought about 2K worth of hardware and just could never get with there workflow.. so I came back still own a few pieces and software.. how many tho have joined for the first time?

I use both, but Maschine is just used as a sound module for the mpc for me. The browser is light years better than anything better than what’s going on in Akai.

I got rid of the Jam and still have a MK1 which a windows update seems to have killed off for me, MK2 and MK3.

After ignoring Maschine for a good bit native instruments are putting out these pointless updates to fast track maschine 3.0

I won’t lie though if Native ever goes stand-alone with Maschine with expansions, massive , and reaktor liteish being ported to it I’ll buy it day one.

Me. Early on I thought Maschine was the future and would be the end all be all. But after years of not being able to record simple goddamn track mutes natively I bought a brand new MPC5000 in hopes of ditching Maschine.

After a year and 3 returns and not being able to use the MPC5000 for more than 30 mins without crashing, I sold it and decided id stick with Maschine forever. That was until the MPC-X came out and it was love at first sight.

I still have the jam as an fx controller but I sold all the other NI 3 boxes I had and I will never go back to Maschine no matter what fancy pretty colored controller they come up with next.

Funny thing is though, I never liked most of the sound libraries in Maschine. I ended up buying 25 expansions over the years because all the sales and vouchers I kept getting but never used them much cause they all felt meh. But when I ported them all to MPC expansions, they've become my favorite libraries.

Maschine was great, until I started doing more with it. the NI plugins are super CPU intensive. I found myself doing more prep work and resampling constantly which really took me out of my creative flow.

I only considered it and decided MPC instead. I forget now, but there were some limitations (not the lack of standalone) that would've effected my planned on workflow. I have a Komplete Kontrol and many NI and NKS instruments, so I was leaning towards Maschine until I came to find out those things.

It worked out as neither of their softwares are worth much to me. The Live's standalone ability keeps it in my arsenal.

I think Maschine sold just for the Kontakt library. Unfortunately nowadays people use presets and of course NI presets sound good.
It's a shame see companies like Air making synth for the MPC and people only use presets, what's the point of having a synth then?
People judge a plugin based on its preset.
I honestly think to sell the MPC too, they both lack basic functionality like time signature and a deep midi implementation. I also find extremely stupid how both make the step sequencer, how hard is to add 16 buttons like an mc707?
None of these sampler have nice modulation, my old Electribe is deeper about that. What's the point of a sampler if it doesn't act like a sampler? =a synth with sample as oscillator,I think people forget about it!
People use the MPC as a one shoot sampler playback and I really don't know why they own a sampler.
Ableton Live Sampler, Octatrack is what I would call a sampler. They're instrument that make you work with sample without fx. Then if you add fx they become part of the modulation, it doesn't feel like a guitar with pedals, that's how the MPC feel:sounds with fx added.
So to answer your questions in short the reason why I Ieft Maschine is the same why I'll leave MPC. I really like the idea of one box do everything but there isn't one around. They're or too simple and do everything or too deep on certain aspect but lack some basic. Ableton Push is probably the best controller+daw combo you can get nowdays but yeah **** computer.
I keep the MPC for the moment just because it's standalone but I will wait till this summer, if a better modulation and arranger show up, otherwise I sell it and get a Push.

I never leave software or Hardware...I use them together!

I use Forks and Spoons to eat my Grub

So live/x/one are like sporks... You can pick some solid foods and a little soup but you're gonna struggle a little

Left Maschine MKI because of the horrible DAW-integration. Nevertheless the maschine sample library and most of the expansions are outstanding IMO and are used heavily on my MPC.

Are those libraries sold separately in wav format?

Yes, if you purshase an expansion, you can transfer the whole and well-organised folder/subfolders (containing all .wav files) where you want. They are non-protected so that you can use them in the MPC or any DAW. If you're interested: https://www.native-instruments.com/en/c ... xpansions/ I agree, they sound good (and I think they are less processed/compressed than the MPC expansions).

My co-collaborator left his mpd226 for Maschine mkiii and likes it despite a few limitations. The synths sound really good and sounds can be manipulated way faster than the Live that I use. Together, the units work nicely and kind of make up for what each other lacks... Thats might just be us though.
Fwiw, I think the MPC sounds better (crisper, clearer, harder hitting, less noise, etc) could be mixing though.

Depending on what the audio interface is and how things are plugged in, there is a possible ground loop issue adding some noise. USB/Audio interfaces can be pretty annoying in this regard... it is fixable/avoidable... but it can be a pain when it is introduced into the environment.
