I have the external SCSI Zip Drive for my 2000xl and I also have a CD-ROM drive daisy chained through the Zip drive. Recently, my SCSI Zip drive has NOT been reading my zip disks (any of them) but it has been reading the CD-ROM through the SCSI Zip drive. I am thinking something is wrong with the actual drive cause I know the disks still have data on them. Has anyone had this problem or does anyone know what I should do?

This happened once before for a week then all of the sudden it started working again, but that was like 2 months ago...So its back now and I cant save anything in this condition. Am not really tryin' to go floppy with it, and all my ZIPs are 250meg so I do not want to put the internal ZIP drive in and replace the floppy drive (yet).

Anyhow, let me know what the deal please...take care.

scsi terminated @ the end of the chain? not termianting can cause this kinda hit or miss operation of all the devices on the chain

if its terminated ok. maybe the drive motor is wonky. Does it make funny noises that it didint used to? also at what point does it go out? does the mpc recogniZE the scsi zip drive? if so then its prolly the motor. cop a new one. I got a scsi zip 100 for 3 dollars with out a power cord, but 3 dollars! so if my scsi zipper goes out, then I can just toss the spare onto the gizmo. ahh spare parts.

does the zip work when the cd rom is turned off? i have to toggle back and forth with mine, but i don't use the cd that much so it is not that big a deal.
