On a YouTube review of the MPC One (can't remember who exactly, but it could be Loopop), he mentioned that he thought the touchscreen on the MPC One was more responsive than that on the Live.

Can anyone here verify if that is true, or are they the same?

Might be true being Akai was able to have time to work on the sensitivity of the screen on the One.

When I use GRID to add/remove/move notes, I notice a lot less errors with the ONE than I did on the LIVE.

No different and they're the same size. As @DANOC said they've had time to calibration the sensitivity.

I keep my live screen clean and dont use any solvent that's wet. So far l haven't had any issues with live screen. Definitely not enough to complain about.
If the screen is good on The One lm happy for those that bought it.

Exactly. Also some people have dry finger tips, long nails, and thicker finger tip skin. So the response will be different. I use eye glass cleaner and a soft lint-free cloth on all my screens. I also wash my hands before I use the machine and clean it after each use then cover.

According to Akai's own specs, the touch screen size for the Live is:

6.9” / 176 mm (diagonal) and 5.9” x 3.7” / 150 x 93 mm (width x height)

The MPC One's touch screen is:

7.0” / 177 mm (diagonal) and 5.9” x 3.7” / 151 x 94 mm (width x height)

These are NOT the same screens.

Measurements are approximations and it really depends on what tool was used to measure it. The only ways to check is to open, the Force, Live, One, and check them out. Or find the service manual for both and check the part numbers.

7" CTP + TFT Assembly
Item #: OTUMO-9135MD-1T

Seems to be the same/compatible as in the Denon SC5000 Prime, Denon PRIME 2, SC5000M owned by InMusic. So it appears that InMusic has sourced lots of these screens and used them across different devices.


EDIT: Upon more research it appears that the OTUMO – 9135MD-1T is inside the AKAI Headrush loopboard as well.

Are they, though? One would assume the specifications are exact, since - you know - they're listed in the specifications. The difference between 6.9" and 7.0" is NOT "approximate". That's a seriously large difference. I mean, unless you're using the "CharlesRandolph Ruler of Made Up Shit"? :lol:

Assuming the mm numbers you supplied are accurate

150x93 = 13950mm squared
151x94 = 14194mm squared

13950/14194 = 98.280%

In other words there is a roughly 1.719% size increase on the new panel... which is what... 5 to 8 pixels wider/taller at best... I would not believe this to be a significant size difference between either model.

The point is - they're not the same panels. Assuming the math is accurate, math does not lie.
