It IS possible to run Mojave and High Sierra (although I wouldn't recommend the latter) and I am testing the former right now via a bootable outboard target disk.

I will post a video of the steps to do it when I am done. I would do it with caution. I happen to be working with Apple but still.

NI, as just one example I'm considering switching to, says EVERY product, hardware and software, is compliant with MacOS Catalina. There's no excuse for any project to be later than the launch date, or maybe 30 days after, except negligence and or apathy... or poor project management... I've used Akai for years and they have always been incredibly slow... Someone else posted, and this is my problem, I just bought a new Mac... didn't think to turn off auto update, and CANNOT downgrade... Legitimate problem and one Akai should care about. They apparently don't.

Not true. It is VERY VERY easy to downgrade (against popular belief) to an older version as long as it came out on the computer you are working on. It really is as simple as simple gets. Google is your friend. I could tell you but don[t have the time right now. Will later if you can't figure it out but just Google the issue. If you want to go back to Mojave and your computer shipped with it or lower, easy peasy.

My issue is that I need it done on a 16" that shipped with Catalina. They flash the chip so you can't do it.

Damn, MPC Ren in the same boat also. I hope Akai does the right thing and update the drivers from their “legacy line”. They still sell the Studio Black in stores, so I hope an update happens.

Everyone understands things can’t be supported forever but I do think the MPC controllers are a different breed and Akai should take care of them. Maschine MK1 still going strong on windows and macOS,

Worked for me (Mid 2015 Macbook Pro)

Quite an old subject, but today I decided to test upgrade on an external ssd from Mojave to Catalina (imac late 2013) and see if my mpc touch would work.
With the standard drivers when installing the 2.8 software, it won’t work.
Then I downloaded the DisplayLink drivers 5.25 from the DisplayLink website, and the touch works like a charm.

Just to let you know.

That's good to know. The Touch driver install has been cumbersome lately. Sometimes the whole install goes through as normal but it doesn't work. I end up having to install it a few times before it actually works.

It works most of the time but is glitchy. For example, note repeat works once then I have to completely reboot. It doesn't appear to be officially supported, but they seem to mostly work for the basic stuff like making beats and sequencing. It's unfortunate that Akai is still not supporting this "legacy" product because demand appears to be huge. It is sold out on every website I've looked at.

And also, not all of the sounds installed properly on my MacBook Pro.

My studio black still works in Catalina without issues.
