We saw a price drop on the force, putting it into the same pricepoint as the MPC Live. Akai will focuse on the MPC One being the entry level, Akai Force being mid level, and MPC X being the top level product. If you set the features and inputs/outputs on a table next to each other, you can see them step up more logically. When you put the MPC Live in that same table, it ends up being the odd one out.

Yeah, I wonder about that. Maybe the Live isn’t working out the way Akia had hoped financially. It’s at this weird price point where it’s a little too much for non-MPCers, people who end up getting the Digitakt (which the One now matches up with). Maybe Akai thinks the X, the Force, and the One will cover all the different kinds of customers. Hardcore MPCers will save up for an X.

OR maybe it’s the opposite situation—the Live is doing so well that Akai is ready now to double down and redo the hardware and software so users can get all the stuff they keep yelling about (disk streaming, multichannel MIDI in, blah blah blah). Maybe they see other things that could have been done better and cheaper. I imagine the Live was not an easy instrument to design.

Anyway, I’ve heard all the 3rd hand: “No more MPC Lives, new thing coming, Guitar Center told my cousin’s girlfriend’s dog about it.” I guess we’ll find out.

I hope the new thing’s not too good, I just bought a Live.

I've changed that for you. BTW, I can only find one email from you, it went to my spam folder which is why I didn't see it.

He seems to get extremely sensitive when people dont agree with his point of views, or get frustrated with him after giving him solutions to the same problems he repeatedly moans about and he never bothers doing them. He's blown up and left Gearslutz like 3 times now in just the last 8 months or so. The last time he did it was after throwing a fit about his memory issues and his glitching when changing modes. No one could replicate the problem, we asked constantly for more clarification on it, we told him time and time again, SEND IT TO AKAI NOBODY HERE CAN HELP. He never listened, just kept the ranting going, and eventually after someone told him off (again) he threw a fit and left. He usually comes back immediately under a new username though.

Enochlight might remember him from Gearslutz as Soulvaki Space (that was his latest pseudonym before he quit again just a month or so ago). Now a couple folks think he is the user Simpler who showed up at GS right around the time he rage quit last time.. Im not so sure though.

Nah he's alright for the most part. Just doesn't have very thick skin I guess? He was a totally different person over here up until recently though. Was always calm and part of the conversation here, but at GS it was just constant complaints about the same thing. We tried so many times to help out and when no one could even come remotely close to replicating the issue we tried again to tell him 'Dude you need to call Akai already, you've got something wrong with your MPC' over and over... This was months and months back and forth too. After all that, maybe hearing you need to just give in and call the manufacturer isn't good enough or something? He had an excuse about why he couldn't call or contact Akai as well, so at that point it was pretty much a lost cause, yet the ranting still kept going until eventually he pissed the right people off and left after the backlash.

Guess it just crept up and spilled over here eventually too. If he follows his MO, he's already back and reading threads, he'll pop in soon enough and we'll know who it is by the language and way he "talks"..

Doesn't the MPC One have smaller than standard size pads?
That alone is reason for me to never downgrade to that, from the Live

It's like going from an MPC 1000 to the old MPC 500

MPC One wasn't intended to be a Downgrade. Its for Entry Level New Users of the MPC Family. If you Have the Live/X, you don't need to purchase it....unless you're a Collector like myself
