I have to agree, actually. Admittedly when the One was announced, I was one of those who criticized the smaller pads. But really - it's no big deal at all. Perfectly usable, in fact. Honestly - if the legendary "Live MK2" makes an appearance at some point, if they made the pads smaller like the One in order to accommodate more buttons, I'd be totally OK with it.

Correction, Criticized without actually using it.

The square look of The One and screen over the pads looks very nice also.

I think the look of the One is more about reusing parts than anything. Not like it was an intentional design decision that considered UI, ergonomics, usage patters, etc. But if it was all that was available, I’d be cool with it. Though I prefer traditional larger pads.

But really, it doesn’t matter to me either way. My music would sound the same. Blue Soul Ten - Life - currently #1 on two soul music charts. Made with an MPC Live and few dedicated buttons. Haha - shameless self-promotion. But just sayin.
