Now if Akai can build the new MPC with the look of the 2500 with a touch screen and 80Gig internal hard drive with tge modern technology it would be good to go.

Yeah, people were doing those DIY kits or something like that. That $180 dollar replacement should've been a recall. Glad I never had a 1000. However didn't the MKII fix that?

The trade probably won't happen, but it a trend to do that now.

Yeah something in the range of the MPC 2500 may not be bad.

In terms of form factor, I think the 2500 was one of the best MPCs. I had one briefly, but sold it within a month or so. Loved it, but I was also transitioning my sample library to 24/48, and if I remember correctly the 2500 couldn't do anything above 16/24. That's how I ended up with the 5000. As I look back, I don't remember why i was converting to 24/48. I was feeling some kinda way about my audio quality back then. LOL

I've actually grown to like the battery more, especially lately. Spending a lot of time at my house.

With the 4000 it was 24/96 or 24/48 (ADAT) I've never really had looked back. During that time everyone I was working with were convert over their library. Remember how many software VST instrument companies there were.

With the current MPC PLATFORM. there is not much difference, so it's easy to get the same result on each machine. I wanted the X to replace my 4000's but it didn't. The MPC ONE is a nice modern utility MPC. I load all sounds and rarely use the I/O.

True with the JJOS but the build quality was trash and the buttons on it.

If Akai could make a new joint STRICTLY STANDALONE and not available to connect to the software it would be dope! If you want to link up to any software use midi and track out. For those that don't want to track out have the export stems tech like we have now.

1. Give all the dedicated buttons like the 2500 plus Q-Links!
2. Battery, protable!
3. 9 inch touch screen, if it sticks out like the X does so be it. But here's the sweet joint, put a HDMI port on the back so you can add any size screen you want. Put touch external screen technology in it too. So if you buy an external touch screen in 4K you could do it. MV8800 had an external port on it and the MPC 3000.
4. Be able to install up to 4 Terrbyte SSD. Sata drive in it.
5. Tight Sequencer!
7. Explode tracks and export stems.
8. 8 outs and 1 stereo out, Left and right. Monitor outs as well. 4 CV outs! Stereo record in!
9. Regular pads but fat!
10. SD card reader, 2 USB ports.
11. Headphone jack in the front. Volume knob in the front.
12. Dope convertors like the X and live have.
13. +48 mic pre, XLR/TRS input.
14. Only the new Air Effects.
15. 8 Gigs Ram, optional to 256 Gigs you can put in or take it to a certified Akai dealer.
16. No Akai sound content! Optional if a person wants it go to your account and down load it.
17. Keep the internal stuff the X/Live has.

Anything l missed add on.
Akai could make this! Standalone would mean no more updating and trying to keep up with the software.

CharlesRandolph said something about trading in. If Akai wanna get on people's good side they could do this.

Instead of a trade in how about a discount for those who can provide proof of purchase of either the Live or X. Price the new machine @ 1,199, but with the %15 or %10 discount it will bring it down between the One and the Live. A purchaser will pay like $950, and those first time buyers pay full price. If you buy 2 machines at the same time give a 20% discount.

I think the chances of them making a 100% standalone MPC that doesn't include at least the option of connecting to a computer via USB in controller mode is practically zero. Akai has made it pretty clear what their direction is going to be with the MPC's at this point. It's a different world today - most users expect to have at least the option to hook up to a computer. Doing it just with MIDI cables and having to track out is considered archaic in this day and age, IMHO.

I would like a larger screen on the MPC Live, though, and optionally having an HDMI port built in would actually be pretty bad ass. If anything, just to mirror on - but yeah - if it also had touch screen support, that would be incredible. Unlikely to happen, but still incredible.

I remember saying that Akai will not make another MPC standalone. Boy l got ripped from from kingdom come But perhaps if they did l offered the options tbey could track out (Archaically) as YOU put and OR, export stems, they will nhave both , that's in my list. There are some that track out on this forum. If l did track out l would only track out to 4 to 8 bars only not the entire 4 minute track. But exporting allows me bounce as many tracks l want in a matter of seconds. People are still using midi to connect multiple hardware into an interface of their choice. I see no signs of midi going anywhere. And if Akai is hung up on midi why are midi ports on the back of new MPCs?

HDMI on the new MPC would kill it! Oh l forgot being able to use a mouse too. So if you did get a big screen you can mouse it.
Can you imagine rocking a 32 inch 4K touch screen using the MPC ? That crap would be dope!
