I dunno - I realize no one supposedly asked for one, but clearly they're trying to do something unique with it in its class/category. Even Teenage Engineering stuff has built-in speakers, and kids this day and age expect to be able to do **** with minimal gear. I dunno - might be handy for many.

That's because we're all old, and all of the young "producers" are kids.On a serious note, that doesn't make them any less pro. Hell, the Beatles were all teenagers when they formed!
The MPC live is discontinued and the MKII with a speaker is coming. Now you have a speaker and a battery.

LOL.
3.0 better be serious, or they're going to get roasted. Where do they get their intel that says everyone wants a speaker??? I've never seen that request ONCE.

Am I missing something here? Will people actually make beats, sound design, sample, mix etc with an onboard speaker? In what scenario would you ever need an internal speaker?
I guess it’s Akais answer to the Bluetooth audio requests? That’s the only thing I can think of

Counterpoint: Akai do plenty of market research. If they added a speaker, it wasn't for no reason. Clearly the Live was a lot more popular with being 100% portable than some may think? Otherwise, that's valuable real estate that could have been used for something else, or not at all.
