Yeah I think you're right.
Just frustrating to see. Seems like most of the last few years has been less Akai Pro, more Fischer Price. Even has us referring to their target market as "kids" now - LOL. I've referred to it the same way. Not about pros anymore.

is this a picture for the new layout? i had wished for more buttons on the mk2, it seems they haven‘t changed much from the old layout..

If it's legit, it appears they also added the CV-control that came with the One, and the button layout also has more/better instant access to things like the sampler, sample edit, the TC, and the step sequencer to name a few. Main volume is also moved to the top on the left.
I mean, honestly - it's worthy of an "MK2" revision I suppose on that alone. Just slightly improves upon the first gen.

Am I missing something here? Will people actually make beats, sound design, sample, mix etc with an onboard speaker? In what scenario would you ever need an internal speaker?
I guess it’s Akais answer to the Bluetooth audio requests? That’s the only thing I can think of

Counterpoint: Akai do plenty of market research. If they added a speaker, it wasn't for no reason. Clearly the Live was a lot more popular with being 100% portable than some may think? Otherwise, that's valuable real estate that could have been used for something else, or not at all.

I agree the live is popular due to portability but dudes making beats on planes, busses, parks, etc want to use headphones. If you’re on the road and need speakers there’s a million better choices for portable laptop speakers.
Knowing Akai, the speaker is going to sound like shit anyways lol.
