Don’t discount the speaker. It was one feature on the Jupiter xm I thought was gimmicky but it’s really actually useful for just making ideas quickly without having to turn on your whole system.

I’d put it on the level of my little Bluetooth Bose speaker just without the eq curve .

Just my crack pot two cents. Not sure what to think of the mk2, no reason for me to upgrade.

Chances are it will be the same as the other MPC. People could just sell their MPC LIVE for $500, get discount and may end up spending $800 for it. When it's about to drop, people will get itchy and throw down that money. It's all about that, YOLO.

I ditched my Live to get the X because I wanted the CV outputs... while it's nice in the mk2... I don't think I need a Live with CV for the road at this point.

To me it is interesting that they haven't added any new must have features that would make it into the X. Maybe a shortcut or two... but the only thing the X seems to be missing is an ethernet port. Call me crazy, but I don't think anybody would upgrade to a X mk2 just for ethernet. My guess is if there is an X mk2, it'll likely be on a brand new platform so they can offer something more substantial to update to.

Yeah tons of people are always asking in the get satisfaction forum if they can hook up a Bluetooth speaker to the live, so Akai probably got an idea about it.


Not highly interested in a MK2, I was really hopping for dedicated face buttons. Having to double tap for sample edit would irk me since it’s something you use everytime. On the other hand CV ports are pretty dope.


Maybe we can get an Msrp drop on the X......

That's a good point. Plus the user can use a USB to Ethernet port like @Monotremata did.

Wish they put a combo jack on there, but glad the CV/Gate jacks showed up. I hope I can get audio from my phone quicker to the MPC with the bluetooth.

Also curious about the bottom bar...is it just the front folded out?

Its gonna be killer for folks that jump in now but, no reason to get rid of my 4 month old Live for the new one at all. Got all the i/o additions covered elsewhere, and the new buttons aren't going to speed up my workflow at all. I gotta figure out how to wire up the HDMI so me and Danoc can jam this shit on a 80" Samsung display hah.
