Akai's FCC submission for the MPC Live Mk II

As someone said before, the speaker is probably there to appease all the people who were asking for bluetooth audio (which in itself is not possible due to latency). As for the battery, I don't know, just saying that there is no mention of it so far.

True, there's no mention of it in the FCC stuff. Personally, I feel it extremely unlikely that they'd remove the battery - that would make a built-in speaker + an MPC you have to keep plugged into shore power redundant, as most would have it hooked up to their PA, mixer, or active monitors, or cans anyway.

They're going to add a guitar amp plug in, so when you plug your axe into the MPC. You can mic the MPC speakers, for that Lo Fi guitar crunch.

i think the grey area is just the front panel folded out for the picture.

Btw, I think the speaker is a silly idea. More Fischer Price than Akai "Pro". But I haven't been fond of where this platform is heading either way. I think a nice thing would be using the plastic buttons like the X and One though. If the Live MKII adds more ram, I'd feel optimistic that there may be some good things coming to the platform. If not, then more likely it's just a parts dump to maximize revenue and potentially lure new users.

For me, 3.0 determines if I keep investing in Akai hardware going forward. Everything I care to see is software-based. Love the Live. Use it every day. I'd keep using it until it stopped working. Just wish it was more capable.

Glad to see a hardware refresh though. Hope there's much more than just a speaker and some button enhancements.

This is good news for some of us, was literally on the phone with SweetWater trying to order a Live a few weeks ago and they mentioned they were out of stock 'until they get a shipment in another month or two.'

I hope the SPKR part was a placeholder on the application as that's the dumbest thing they could possibly spend resources on.

Love the 2 Midi and 8 CV's though, this is going to be a great centerpiece sequencer for a bunch of plugged in kit.

The volume knob on the face, cv outputs and a fresh battery might be enough for me to get one, but man I hope they change the soc. Maybe this one will have the hype synth built in...

Excuse my ignorance but what kind of internal upgrades would it take for mkII to run vsts/3rd party plug-ins in standalone?? Or is that too farfetched?

Its nor far fetched. But it needs more than 2Gigs of ram. 16Gigs and optional to put in more. Then 3rd party companies have to step in. This would be huge! If you could run Omnisphere in the X/live dudes would sh** in their pants with happiness. They have to maje it so vst/VST3 is coded there. Hell the software do except that already.

There will be no difference in RAM nor CPU. It’ll be the same as the One, X, and current Live. There’s no reason - ZERO reason - they’d choose anything else at this point. They want parity between the software and all hardware, so they won’t change it up so soon. They also want cheap manufacturing, which keeps things exactly that by using the same CPU, RAM, etc.

Not sure why people think they would change it so soon.

What if the mk2 is the 3.0 rollout. Wasn’t the updates delayed for the force and live for a BIG update?
I wouldn’t stand so firm in your speculation as we just learned about this.
I would say that mk2 will more than likely include hype synth and the drum synth. True the force is the same but they optimized it to have hype. So yea, either they upgrade the processor or have further optimized it.

Akai are so lost, theres so many things the community has been asking for since day 1 and they roll out all these half cooked hardware updates, no way i can take these guys seriously when others are doing it properly, for mpc duties i will stick with the 3000 and live for gigs but dont expect i will buy an inmusic toy again

If you're putting this out without absolute proof l can't go along with it. You could be right or wrong, l like to wait and see what Akai says. If they put out the same ram 2gigs, that's wack! No disk streaming? Wack! It would be ultimately dumb to keep the same size ram.

I will tell you this Native Instruments is about to set fire to Akai's azz if they don't change.
Moving a few buttons around don't do ish for me. Put it this way if Akai don't change l won't change. It should have internal improvements!
The dam MV8800 has VGA at least to use a bigger screen and mouse support. WTF is like 20 years ago they had that?

Then why the hell should we get excited and pay more money?
