-built in pad loop hold
-usb3, usb2 & 1 retro-fit slots for nostalgia

-no I/O, just a lightning 3 connector
-they got rid of the battery for charles and tethered it to a computer for unlimited ram & storage & vst3 compatibility

Ok, I'm going stir crazy

We don't even know if the MPC LIVE MKII will have a battery. Speaking strictly for myself, I invested in studio equipment so I can make music, with that gear on hand. I don't compose music on the couch, bus, train, or outside on the patio. I also have no issue with those who work like that.

Now if I want to use my MPC away from my studio, I do have power banks and battery generators that I can use. But 99% of the time, I'm sitting in front of my Monitors, Board, Midi Keyboard, and Desktop Computer because that's were my best tools are.

As far as the speaker in the MPC LIVE MKII, it could be useful for checking how a master song, translates over laptop, television, or portable bluetooth speakers.

I wish the MKll live could have 6 Synths in it.

1. Omnisphere, a scaled down version.
2. Serum
3. Sub Lab, this will handle all your bass needs.
4. True Pianos.
5. Nexus 3
6. Unity.

Are you saying that having a tinny built-in speaker would be good for checking how a tinny bluetooth speaker will sound? While the machine has bluetooth capabilities that we can't use? You gotta be joking, but in this day in age I can't tell

the live mk1 and 2 should be able to connect to bluetooth speakers or headphones... it has god damn bluetooth. the built in speaker, i don't mind it.... for quick jamming situations... not me personally, but i see people doing that. great way to open the product line up to different customers.

Ummm isn't it commin wit a headphone jack? That speaker will sound like trash and taking up space. You will get a better listen using headphones

Danoc wrote:DAMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! We haven't even gotten the Live 2 yet and dudes are already on The X MkII? WTF

Not exactly, I brought it up because of where the X is in the product cycle, I decided to get one as I'm moving past Ableton for production, and its kind of weird to shell out two stacks for device that most likely has something new on the horizon - hence "I'm more interested in a MPC X mk2", not out of necessity, more wanting to know if so much is changing that I should wait, or to just go for it.

I ended up ordering an X via low price, I don't care so much about Standalone on the X as it will live in the studio, so the limitations of the X won't be a thing, and after thinking on it, I don't expect any kind of performance bump that will matter in my situation - even workflow changes will come my way via updates. So I am happy, package should be here Friday, I'll Lysol the hell out of it, I've already taken the Push 2 off the mix stand and redid how my mouse and everything attaches to it, have my Live in as a place holder, and then I'll slide that "New Thang" in.

Is there a benefit to using a SSD if you aren't really going standalone?

 I found it on REDDIT! Now I see why traffic is being pulled away from this site. They're out here scraping content and using content without credit. I'm not passive aggressive. I told them straight up credit and link to the site.

People listen to music over ear buds and tablets. This MPC LIVE MK 2 speaker will sound like, 8.1 surround sound to them. But in all seriousness, they will check their mixes on the MPC LIVE MK 2 speakers. <---- FUTURE YOUTUBE VIDEO TUTORIAL!

well i see the potential of them marketing it in a sort of "back to the park" kind of way... showing legends spitting off the top with a beat boxer and then someone doing live drums on the pads with the built in speaker all standing in a circle or on a picnic table... akai likes to mention the legacy of the mpc series (even if it wasn't the same people back 20-30 years ago or the same company). all they need to add on the live mk2 is the same circuitry as the 3000 and it's a wrap.
