Symbols grey'd out

Anyone know why the symbols are grey'd out always? It doesn't make sense to be there if you can't use them at all.

yes the keyboard. I've gotten used to them not being there but I've never inquired.

They are not intended to be used when writing files to the file system. I imagine they just lifted a standard library for rendering the keyboard... this is likely an easier task than writing and formatting their own keyboard.

Pure wild speculation on my part though.

Nah, all the letters and symbols on mine were active at one point, then after an update (2.-something) only the letters & numbers work & the rest are grey.

Not detrimental but annoying!

I doubt here is one...I just don't know why'd they be on there if they're never active.

Ah, I know the answer to that one - it's so you can enter WIFI passwords.
