Step Sequencer seeing events with different pitch?

Hi,

I am wondering about the step sequencer. It seems only to show events per pad. So if I want to make a melody I have to enter the notes per pad instead one after the other. Is there any way to see all notes of the track (or maybe all notes from the pads bank a etc) so that i can see the melody instead of just seeing its events on c, on c# and so on? For drums the way it is done might be useful but doing a melody or bassline sucks like this.

Grid View
The Grid View lets you view and edit the note events of each track of a sequence in a project
and their velocities. This mode has two different appearances: one for drum programs and one
for keygroup programs, MIDI programs, and plugin programs.
For drum programs, the left column shows you all available pads in a vertical view with their corresponding data.
For keygroup programs, plugin programs, and MIDI programs, the left column shows a vertical “piano roll” keyboard.
To enter the Grid View, do either of the following:
• Press Menu, and then tap Grid View.
• Press Shift+Main/Grid (MPC One)


or you can enter it on the main screen from the grid icon left (under the up arrow button)

Ohh just checked. The grid is the main eindow isn't it?
I was thinking of having the step sequencer and just set the pad number for a step. So i wont have to go into grid mode. The reson for this that i fing the grid mode quite fiddley to use. If the step editor would show all events and gave the possibillity to set the pad number or note the event should trigger it would be much more easy. I might try a stylus for the grid editor and see if there is a way to have the q links mapped to transpose, length, nudge and zoom for easy editing. Unfortunately the pads cant be used to enter steps, can they?

maybe that video helps you. At arround 12:00 minutes he shows you a trick in the step sequencer. If you habe a Instrument program loaded, go to step sequencer, push the pad/chord you want to play and after that press the event in the step sequencer you want that pad to be played...Not 100% what you were looking for, but maybe it helps
