I want to use the Reason players like the Quad note generator to control my hardware analog and digital synths, but I can't seem to make it happen. Does anyone know how I can achieve this?

Been there, tried that, it doesn't work, hence exactly why I made this post....

Yeah okay, you didn't say that. Maybe you smoked a bit too much of that shit.

Anyway, does it work with other programs? Sending midi out to external synth? Best is to try that first, so you at least know there is nothing wrong with your midi interface etc. Then you are for sure it is in reason. Could be a bug too.

I literally have 23 hardware synths, samplers and drum machines and 2 analog filters, and 3 effects units connected via MIDI to my MPC X and no issues.

I don't know why Reason Rack is not my friend right now...

Is that MPC X in standalone or via the software?
Do you have an midi interface for on your computer or does it go via the mpc x?

The tutor won't allow us to use more text characters in our signature. viewtopic.php?f=39&t=193132

All of my hardware is connected directly to the MPC X.

MIDI Out and MIDI Thru are my friends.

Reason no like me...

or

Is your MPC X your midi device, and hooked to your computer over USB.

I normally use standalone when using my hardware, but for me to use the Reason Rack Plugin I have to be in controller mode...

Right, to use Reason Rack Plugin, you have to be in controller mode. When you're in controller mode, RRP notwithstanding, are you able to control your 23 hardware synths, samplers and drum machines and 2 analog filters, and 3 effects units connected via MIDI to your MPC X through your DAW?

You might try running your MPC X in standalone, controlling all of your hardware, but run a MIDI cable from your computer that has your DAW running Reason Rack Plugin, and slave your gear to your DAW. Should be able to assign a MIDI channel at that point to your shit in your DAW and Quad Note Generate the shit out of it.

Yes, all of my hardware works in controller mode with absolutely no issue. I only use my MPC for sequencing my MIDI and virtual instruments.

My usual beatmaking process is to start each composition with all my hardware instruments in standalone mode, then go into controller mode to add and virtual instruments, dynamics and effects that make a good fit for the joint I'm working on.

I then feed all of my instruments into my Tascam M2600 MK2 mixing console where I set up my tracking groups (1&2 Drums, 3 Bass 1, 4 Guitar, 5&6 Samples, 7&8 Synths) and then track my groups directly to analog tape with either my Otari MX5050 MK3 (Boom Bap, Funk, Soul, Jazz) or my Tascam 238 (Lo-Fi Hip Hop, or Lo-Fi House) and then from there I transfer my 8 tracks from tape to a DAW where I will do some additional processing using mostly analog modeled plugins and then after my final mix I render the file in preparation for my Mastering Engineer.

The Reason Rack Plugin doesn't seem to want to cooperate with MIDI Hardware from MPC's controller mode.

Is it possible to Run Reason Plug-ins in their Standalone Environment? If so...the X/Live can control the Plug-ins thru Midi...and by having an Audio Interface between the X/Live and the Computer.

Thats how control all my VSTi's
