MPC X for €1400...

I'm indeed new to MPC, but I'm pretty quick at picking things up.
Improvement in speed is indeed not of huge importance (should have perhaps put it differently in the original post) but workflow is a big factor for me. I've played around with an MPC Live a bit in the past, but I was instantly missing some buttons. The One does seem to resolve that problem (a bit), but the X seems to offer more hands on control at the cost of portability.
Perhaps I should mention that I also have a Cirklon, and will mainly be using the MPC as a sample / beat production system... Cirklon handles my synths.

Thanks for all the feedback so far, love it! I'm leaning a bit more to the MPC One right now, but please do convince me otherwise if you really think so

Ps: The X "offer" is at an official retailer and has 3 year warranty... But if I get the One, which costs €750, it also has the 3 year warranty of course.

So I found a REN for $150 on eBay. I picked it up. I have a Live, Force, Touch, MPC 1000 and Silver studio.

On the silver studio in sample edit mode you can use the arrows to select the start and end fields. The qlinks automatically switch the qlinks to the options.

The touch and live do not have arrows so that function is not there. You select the start and end options on touch screen and the qlinks do not change. They do change for the new plugins when you select any parameter but doesn’t work in sample edit mode.

So to me it’s a chore to sample edit on the Live. It’s not the end of the world but I don’t enjoy it. The touch is okay because you have the mouse right next to you.

Now on the Ren man I’m so hyped the start and end options are right there. I threw on a sample and dialed it in quickly.

Team ren for the win

the size of the one is the main attraction, and the lower price tag. the fact you can export stems makes the need for physical outs a bit less dire... it would not fly on older machines where you had to track any beats you made. the X has loads of bells and whistles, i just am not huge on the layout/design.

REN is connected to the main studio Windows pc

Touch is going in closet since the drivers for current Mac OS no longer works

Mpc studio silver goes with me to work with a Microsoft surface. Super light and compact, thinking about getting a studio black with better knobs. Drivers for silver and black no longer work with MacOS.

I just got a new bag, I’m going to try carrying my Live again, for me personally the Live is too big for to carry everyday. It’s just a little to wide for my space.

If I don’t like it I’ll have the force, Live and Korg Wavestation in the studio.

I ain't going to lie but that Studio Black is dope.

yeah man, i find myself using my 16 channel to track things into the live instead of the other way around.. and those things im tracking are not full stems from something, they are elements that will go into a beat i am working on... i have my sub outs on the mixer working in a way where i can easily run any machine into the remix 16 or the live, back and forth (resampling) without having to touch a single cable. with the push of a button i can run a turntable, my phone, my PC's audio, or anything else right into either machine the same way.

I heard that. I use to be like that but l got rid of all my hardware and lm strictly inside the box.

yeah i feel that.... you can't really beat the speed and the horsepower. for me the mpc was never the thing i HAD to use really... i always approached it as a bonus item

When l had the MPC 2000XL it was the CENTER PIECE of my entire studio. I ran it through my Yamaha O2R , litepipe to my Protools Le interface, into my Mac Pro Xeon.
I had outboard synths that were midied up but never midied to my MPC 2000XL. People looked at me like l was nuts lol

I played on time and sampled myself on to the pads. I did it like that before l got Reason, and had a ball. Now lm in the computer without all the " this goes into that and into this crap". I am very happy with my compact setup. My sound and making music is better.

Now the MPC is not the center piece in my stoo. The computer is. The MPC is a want not a need for me.
