Your MPC recovered from an internal error.

OOPS! My work from the last 4 hours has been lost. Not the first time, also a week ago.
I'm just learning how to use my first MPC. Is this normal? I thought it was a device designed for cutting samples. Meanwhile, during chopping, an error occurs.
It was supposed to be an iconic device, and it looks like some overrated crap.
The only solution is autosave every 10min? It works on average, it disturbs my work, as if someone was poking me in the back every 10min. If autosave was running in the background it would be ok. Until the next software error appears.

Any advice?



Brand new MPC couple days after purchase, stock 2.7.1 software:


Today, after week, this time on 2.7.2 software version:

How hard are you pushibg it? Lots of programs or fx? Is memory close to maxed out?
Loading a bunch of programs, keygroups, fx, etc can bog it down a bit.
Been on 2.6 problem free for a while now, but I have streamlined my workflow since the early days.

It happened to me last night. I'm running 2.6. Yes I was working it! I was making sweet music to my X and 37 at the same time. I sampled while playing live on the 37 over midi track playing as one. I trimmed that sample perfectly and started toying and doing the ol in-n-out with multiple effects.. removing some adding more and twisting the settings on some effects. It was pretty neat. When I backed out of the effects menu page the screen went black and that error message popped up. It was ok as I saved my work prior to the effect **** session. I was satisfied and shut the ladies down and went to sleep.

Been running my MPC Live almost a year, and have never seen that happen on any firmware. It's possible you have a bum unit. Anyway you can exchange it for another MPC One and see if the problems continue?

Also, you're not using the built-in storage for stuff, are you? Make sure you're saving all of your material to an external SD Card, USB stick, or USB drive. Also, you haven't deleted anything off of the built-in storage, correct? If so, you need to restore your built-in storage content to factory. It's not hard, but you have to reach out to Akai tech support to get the image.

I write everything from the beginning on an SD card or USB stick. Nothing has been stored or removed from the internal memory.
When the error occurs, I don't have any loaded effects or other complicated settings. Just basic drum pattern with an audio sample.

Yes, I followed several tutorials and a few hours gone.

Try reflashing the firmware.. I saw this a couple times when I first got mine and updated it to 2.6 (it came with 2.4). Once was when I was shutting it down (wtf??), and another time was when I went into the disk menu and started a 'New' project. Haven't seen it since, but after flashing 2.7 I had some weird shit happening, reflashed the firmware using the USB version instead of the Mac version, and the thing has been rock solid since. I regular work on mine about 8+ hours a day (Im stuck working from home now so its always on) and this never happens to me.

Well, if you have tried resetting it and the issue still persists just by doing a simple tutorial for a few hours, I stand by my assertion that you have a hardware issue and should exchange your unit. Unless you want to try different SD Cards/USB Sticks to rule out that they may be the issue.

Last question: when you remove your SD Card/USB Stick, are you ejecting them via the MPC One's browser first before you remove them? If not, you are most certainly corrupting your drives which may be causing issues.

I had that message but 1 time's so far

It happened again last night when I was shutting it down. I think my X was running 2.4 when I got it. I installed to the 2.6 firmware update yesterday. I'm going to reset it and install the 2,6 firmware update again. Hopefully that will help.

I just had this crash on me. Was doing some FX automation and screen went black, sound stopped, then got the error message. Erased my project in memory, not sure how that’s considered a “recovery!”

I’m on firmware 2.9
