MPC X for €1400...

I'm indeed new to MPC, but I'm pretty quick at picking things up.
Improvement in speed is indeed not of huge importance (should have perhaps put it differently in the original post) but workflow is a big factor for me. I've played around with an MPC Live a bit in the past, but I was instantly missing some buttons. The One does seem to resolve that problem (a bit), but the X seems to offer more hands on control at the cost of portability.
Perhaps I should mention that I also have a Cirklon, and will mainly be using the MPC as a sample / beat production system... Cirklon handles my synths.

Thanks for all the feedback so far, love it! I'm leaning a bit more to the MPC One right now, but please do convince me otherwise if you really think so

Ps: The X "offer" is at an official retailer and has 3 year warranty... But if I get the One, which costs €750, it also has the 3 year warranty of course.

If you'd only need a sampler. i could better recommend a Digitakt. Cheaper, and fits better in your workflow. an Mpc One is basically a midi sequencer with sampling/chopping capabilities. That said, it's not the best sampler you can out there, certainly for the money. I'd look into a digitakt!

I've looked into a Digitakt, but all the hidden combo's and stuff just make it seem so... not cool and easy to work with (for me)
I've actually had a Octatrack YEARS ago, but sold it within a week because I hated all the combo's I had to remember.
Yes, I know that there are also people out there who say you just have to spend more time with your gear, but I want gear to be fun and intuitive for me from the start.
And there will still be enough to learn too... I don't mind getting to know my gear, but that doesn't include playing a game of memory.
But thanks for the Digitakt tip! If the workflow would suit me, it would be a real contender. So any more tips are certainly welcome. Thanks all!

Then i'd just look into other samplers.. if you have a cirklon being the midi sequencer, an mpc is not really what you need and you'd spend too much on options you don't really need imho

So did the OP ever buy the MPC X?

Love the mobility of the One, although I would love for it to have preamp inputs for direct recording of a mic.

I basically want to (auto)sample my drummachines and occasional synth (via MIDI or CV/gate) directly into the machine fast, and start composing / beat making. I'm not really gonna use it that much for sequencing multiple MIDI instruments at once, which is pretty limited anyway on both the X and the One as far as I can understand.

I've looked at different solutions like the cheaper Electribe 2, but having a touchscreen and simple layout will make the MPC so much more fun and intuitive to use for me.

Another one is the Digitakt, which seems great for me, but the learning curve and the hidden button combo's etc etc... I'm pretty sure it will cause me too much frustration.

I'm not aware of any other real alternatives..

I say stick with what you currently have. Wait until the X is at better price for your budget. Everything you've listed shows it's just a want and not a need.

I don't know how you could feel the Digitakt is a better sampler than an MPC One. The Digitakt is a convoluted mess of menu diving and has no large display for sample editing or other data. Had one for a few days and got rid of that shit, stat. Maybe I didn't spend enough time with it, but I knew the first day I had my MPC that it was a good choice, so.. there's that.

Also, the MPC One is far more than just a midi sequencer with sampling/chopping capabilities, IMHO.

Well i didn't say the digitakt is a better sampler, but i meant it as a more affordable option, plus the mpc is much more of a dedicated midi sequencer than a very sophisticated sampler. If he already owns a cirkon (which is a bulldozer of a midi sequencer imho!) why would you need an mpc?

I don't own a digitakt, but i have a digitone and an analog four. after years of using the mpc1000 (and now a mpc live) I found the way of working with elektron machines very refreshing and i got the hang of it in no time. I guess it's your personal ability to adapt to something new and just personal preference.
