thanks for the clarification but this is exactly what i was saying. As long as you provide the minimum amp in the case of mpc one 3.42a you're fine. Even when your power supply can output 10a there is no harm done to the device but with voltage its a different thing....but im repeating myself

no the power bank has an output of 20v/5a

Correct! Damage happens with lower amperage, because the power supply is working overtime. The Maxoak is DC20V/5A and the MPC is 19V 3.42A. So based off that it's get the :nod: from me again.

Good information; I'll amend my original statement and say that the power supply @ocelot is using is a nice option, assuming his theory on voltage tolerance is safely acceptable. Can anyone verify with Akai that it is indeed safe at +/- 5% tolerance like @ocelot claims? Reading it "somewhere" doesn't give me warm and fuzzies inside.

Well, you said amp doesn't matter, but it does - as explained in the post by @NearTao (as in not enough amps). But I amended my statement one post up to be in alignment with that data.

It has been years since I've had an electrical engineering classes, so I'm not going to give a "it is fine within any tolerance statement"... that said, if you've got a volt meter, you can see that the power from the wall is often not exactly 120v. The power grid fluctuates over time as demand goes up and down. You're not going to get an exact value from a battery or the wall... but that's what the power supply circuits are made to condition for. So a given device may very well only work at a specific voltage...

Also, the behavior of AC vs DC is different... so *shrug*... personally I wouldn't intentionally go off of voltage spec.
