...then track your beats in LUNA.

Image

I used think Studio One and Reason had the superior sounding audio engines. I was wrong, very f u c king wrong!

I'm not saying Universal Audio did a perfect job with LUNA, because they didn't, there are some things I think could be better, but to be fair and objective, the problems I currently find with the platform might actually have more to do with my current learning curve rather than the product itself.

What I can, however, say with great confidence is that for the very first time I'm actually hearing what my MPC X sounds like and WOW it sounds f u c king good!

Really good!

The crazier part is this before you turn on the Neve Summing which sounds AMAZING!

Weirdly enough LUNA is both easy to navigate but also confusing in the tiniest ways, despite being able see the Read/Write button right in front of me, I can't find where the automation handles are on track lanes and there doesn't seem to be any Mackie HUI protocol so I can't use my Behringer XTouch.

Maybe I'm blind as a f u c king bat, or going bats hit insane with excitement over this new product with is causing me to overlook the obvious, but did I tell you how great the MPC X sounds with LUNA?

Holy sh!t I'm finally hearing my MPC X.

Does EA Ski know about LUNA yet?

There is this one quirk about MPC software as a plugin within LUNA the playhead in the MPC sequencer does a rapid dance on the downbeat but the good is it does not affect the playback of your MPC sequences within LUNA's sequencer, but it can be distracting at first...

Thanks, have you tried LUNA with your MPC yet?

I don't have supported UA interface. However, I had some hands on time with it and it's very streamlined. Its doesn't have all the bells and whistles yet, but that's going to change. How do you like it, so far?

Reason and Studio One's audio engine is no different than any other DAW out there: whatever you put in = whatever you get out. It's your plugins, choice of processing, and mixing/mastering that makes all the difference in the world.

I'm very much digging the quality of the audio. This is not like your typical DAW's audio engine. I think LUNA is going to become the new industry standard...

Normally I would agree with you, because you almost sound like me yesterday before I tried LUNA and spent a little bit more time with it today.

This is not the same old, same old.

Universal Audio has done something different here because you can hear a very clear difference.

Like I said before, I finally can hear what my MPC X actually sounds like because you can.

Go on Facebook and Reddit mad MPC heads are raving about it and everyone is coming to the same conclusion that LUNA sounds better than their usual DAW, because it does...

If Luna doesn't null audio like every other DAW, then it's doing something wrong. I'm guessing that it will null just like all other DAW, as I can't imagine Universal Audio screwing something up that's as basic as that, so that suggests everything you are hearing is due to the plugins/processing and UA gear that Luna uses. It's cool you're enjoying Luna though - it's clearly got some good stuff going on.

I'm not suggesting Luna is a bad DAW, by no stretch! I've seen the reviews and read the buzz from UA users.

They did a good job with the deep integrations of the interfaces. I'll pick up the x8, once they update LUNA to support control surfaces.

Dude, I'm not using any plugins in my MPC chains during testing, just raw, dry, audio so I can gauge the quality, LUNA is something different. You should try it out for yourself to hear for yourself what I'm talking about.

Just put one of the many summing plugin in each of you track and render it... The uad route is way 2 expensive nowadays. Back then uad was way ahead with their dsp cards. Softube, cytomic, slate or the brainworks consoles are on the same level without the dsp card dongle

I don't own anything from Universal Audio. Is it available to anyone? I was under the impression you had to use it with UA gear. If that's not the case, I'll have a peek. :worthy:

Here's what l know about Luna . l like the layout it looks very nice. Its basically a copy of Protools, short cuts etc. What kills it for me is ITS MAC ONLY! :Sigh: :WTF: :hmmm:

Im not concern with your perception on how it makes your X sound. Granted Reason will sound different because Reason Studios said the modeling of the SSL9000k got them to make the algorithms of it and it sounds a certain way. That's directly from Reason Stoo. Does it sound bad? Hell nah. You can check my tracks below l did them in Reason.

Now S1v4 , :hmmm:. .... Is dope! He headroom in it is ridiculous! Its clean and sounds great. The functions and workflow is bananas! Luna is not fu**in with S1V4. The things in S1v4 now is crazy.

Luna is to expensive and to add that summing joint is even more. That makes no sense for a joint that just came out.

Did you say luna will be industry standard? Not by a long shot. You think major stoos will give up their HDX systems for Luna?
You can open PT sessions in it. $700 on go is whew! Luna aint nothing but Protools with an enhanced look lol
By CharlesRandolph Fri Apr 10, 2020 1:19 pm
Luna is free! You just need the supported UA Hardware to use it. The MAC only thing is the good move for now. It's easier to flush thing outs due to how Apple locks down the OS. There are way too many Window based configurations to do that.

How LUNA is tied to the UA interfaces, is what Akai Pro, should've done with MPC SOFTWARE and Hardware.
Can't use it unless, you buy the hardware. UA audio interfaces are very popular, so anyone with supported hardware is a potential user. All they have to do is take their time and update.

Try to get your hands on it because it's really refreshing. I just hope they don't cloud it up with too many features.

No dude, as I said before twice, I'm just using my raw, dry samples. with no processing. And there's a discernable difference in the quality of audio.

Also, you're talking to someone who literally owns almost every analog-modeled plugin that exists from Universal Audio, Waves, Eventide, Softube, IK Multimedia, Fuse Audio, SoundToys, Native Instruments, Brainworx/Plugin Alliance and subscribes to Slate Digital, Solid State Logic, and others to name a few.

LUNA is something different and IMHO very much worth the investment.

Yes, you need to be a Mac user and own any Universal Audio interface with a Thunderbolt connection.

I strongly don't agree, I own both Reason and Studio One, as well as Logic X Pro, FL Studio, and Pro Tools. I've been Mixing with Studio One for a few years and you're right about the headroom and its quality over Reason and other DAWs, but it's not in any shape or form f u c king with LUNA, not even close.

I love mixing with Studio One, it's my immediate goto, but I'm telling you, man, LUNA is a much different animal, I stand by predicting it will become the new standard.

Once you hear your work with it, you will understand why I'm saying this.

Universal Audio has something very special here...
