Pad Mixer volume wont stay the level I adjusted it to. Help.

I sampled a bass line from a synth, then I go into padmix to drop the volume to -10db. Then I go into main, record over my beat and as soon as I press the pad it goes back to 0db... Why is this happening? Why won't it stay at the -10db I am setting it at?
